I am now the superannuated man, the man I always dreamed of being, free from the drudgery of office life and smiling benignly at mediocre work colleagues. Hallelujah! One of the benefits of being retired is that I get to visit my home town of Ballina more often. That lovely town on the banks of the majestic Moy has suffered... More

I always head here when meeting friends for coffee in Ballina - which confuses them at first because there are so many cafes in the town. Once they've been though they understand why! The desserts are top class, so tasty. You always get a big portion (even the small is big), perfect for sharing - but you will not want... More

Ordered sandwiches and order taken wrongly despite being only customers taking... More

It conjures up images of poets and artists, writers and cards, storytellers of legends. The food was fab, a good hearty home-cooked meal, but the service was unbelievable! Hearing my... More

I have to declare my association with Eddie Gaughan - I knew him as a kid in Ballina. I left Ballina many years ago, now returning regularly, but little did I think that I would one day have such delicious food served to me by that big guy. Cooking is one my favorite hobbies - because I love good food.... More

I've had linch here twice. Service is excellent and food is average. The interior could use a makeover

I have been visiting Gaughan's for 26 years, so I guess I may call myself a regular now ! I must admit, I preferred Gaughan's when it still served a pint of Guinness, or two, as this was the finest in the country by a mile. Cold or "natural" a creamy soft pint was guaranteed !
