Proper dinners for kids sitting next to lobster tank!

The service was so friendly and welcoming to children. They have a great kids' menu where they can have proper dinners, even choose from fish dishes or crab claws (which one of the kids loved!). The menu has a huge range of local seafood and meat dishes and the amuse bouche and homemade breads kept... read more

I wrote a review a long time ago and I'm pleased to say that The Half Door is still as good, even better. My wife ordered the smallest lobster (she's not a great eater) and it still would make some of the lobsters you get in most restaurants look pale by comparison. I got some fresh salmon and cod. Really... More

My experience was not good here at all. Restaurant is too small for the amount of tables they pack in here.. very uncomfortable walking past tables and can barely talk as the neighbours table is so uncomfortably close to ours-no privacy! A side dish was forgotten but couldn't get any servers attention in time of the main courses going cold..... More

Had dinner at the Half Door recently with my wife on a few days vacation to Dingle. We were early so opted for the Early Bird menu of 3 courses for about €30. From starter to dessert we were delighted with the food. It was really tasty, just enough portion size and leaving you eagerly waiting for the next course!!... More

...and the meal was superb! We started with appetizers, soup and a mushroom cassoulet and we were truly full by then. My husband had the hake and I had the Irish Angus steak. All very, very delicious, but the meringue with the lingonberry coolie was to die for!!!! I will remember that meal for a long time.

The Half Door is every bit as good as Doyle's next door, but less crowded. The host is warm and friendly, and the food is terrific.

This restaurant was recommended by the host from the B&B we stayed in. The food was really good and the service was wonderful!

Get yourself over to West Kerry and enjoy a meal in one of the most perfect places known to man. Being a fishing village, clearly seafood and fish are high on the menu but the meat dishes were perfection. The gratinated mushrooms were also a clear indication that they knew what to do with a vegetarian option too. Easily One... More

My wife and I went to the half door last night. We were greeted warmly by the owner Denis at the front, who made a fantastic recommendation for the wine for dinner. The welcome in the restaurant was the warmest received yet in Kerry. For starter I had the prawn cocktail, my wife had the lobster bisque, and we both... More
