A wonderful dining experience behind the green facade...

We tried to eat here our first night in Dingle but it was packed-- we made a reservation for the following evening. This charming, quaint, small restaurant is beautifully appointed. We found the food to be exceptional, and the service equally outstanding--especially Roland and Doraty. The ambience was lovely, and somewhat unexpected given its undistinguished facade. Had a fantastic meal at the Half Door restaurant. The menu is excellent. Had a very filling seafood chowder starter and blackened salmon main. Should have gone for a lighter starter! The table next to us were on the pre dinner menu which was cheaper and I would try this if I was in Dingle again.

We walked in on a hunch and it turned out to be the right one. Great seafood chowder, nice Cesar salad, goat cheese salad was delicious as was the crab agrautin. Service was prompt, pricing was a tad high but no complaints.

This place was recommended by both friends and our B&B host so we booked a table on a Saturday night. There isn't a lot of space between tables and the place was packed but didn't bother us too much as such, the atmosphere was rather nice. The only problem is that after about 10 minutes you start feeling too hot,... More

We had an amazing meal at the Half Door! The décor is warm with a lovely ambiance and gracious service. Our seafood meals were not only delicious but beautifully presented. Wonderful drinks and wine added to our evening! The restaurant is small, charming and crowded, but that speaks volumes for the wonderful dining experience. One of our best dining experiences... Hadn't eaten here for years but taxi driver said it is still the best. Waited 20 minutes before order taken for starter drink. Great fish menu but oh..the prices. Sole at €40 ….top Dublin price is €32 ?…..Lobster excellent but to be expected at €45. Really good wine list and only grumble over all is the price. The fish is... More

Always visit each year..consistency..early bird menu good value.chowder is just the best, aniseed taste which I love. Starters bit 80s (melon etc)..great fish mains.their veg side dishes need updating & are quite small (they did offer more without being asked in fairness)..deserts are good..coffee good..a la carte menu looks stunning but out of price range..there is a table d'hote menu... This is one of the best restaurants in the country. Seafood is fresh and cooked to perfection. Variety is fantastic. Service is friendly and excellent. Expensive but so worth it - I can still taste the wonderful crabs, scallops and sole. Atmosphere is fantastic, can't wait to go back next time I'm in Dingle.

We didn't have a reservation but they arranged a table for 3 Wonderful dinner---lobster bisque and crab au gratin to start. For entrees we had the fish of the day special-hake-- the slow roasted lamb shank, and the special duo of shellfish of the day, which was 2 kinds of fish, mussels and scallops. We finished with Irish coffees and... More

We both had fish and chips for 21 Euro along with a coulke other plates. The food was good, though not the best we had in Ireland it was the most expensive. The wine was well selected but is compromised by a high mark-up. Service excellent. Nice place
