Amazing food in a lovely restaurant on the beautiful Dingle peninsula.

Had dinner at the Half Door recently with my wife on a few days vacation to Dingle. We were early so opted for the Early Bird menu of 3 courses for about €30. From starter to dessert we were delighted with the food. It was really tasty, just enough portion size and leaving you eagerly waiting for... read more

...and the meal was superb! We started with appetizers, soup and a mushroom cassoulet and we were truly full by then. My husband had the hake and I had the Irish Angus steak. All very, very delicious, but the meringue with the lingonberry coolie was to die for!!!! I will remember that meal for a long time.

The Half Door is every bit as good as Doyle's next door, but less crowded. The host is warm and friendly, and the food is terrific.

This restaurant was recommended by the host from the B&B we stayed in. The food was really good and the service was wonderful!

Get yourself over to West Kerry and enjoy a meal in one of the most perfect places known to man. Being a fishing village, clearly seafood and fish are high on the menu but the meat dishes were perfection. The gratinated mushrooms were also a clear indication that they knew what to do with a vegetarian option too. Easily One... More

My wife and I went to the half door last night. We were greeted warmly by the owner Denis at the front, who made a fantastic recommendation for the wine for dinner. The welcome in the restaurant was the warmest received yet in Kerry. For starter I had the prawn cocktail, my wife had the lobster bisque, and we both... More

We arrived to the Half Door on a busy night, which we were seated immediately although the restaurant is small it has a cosy feeling and a great atmosphere! Our meal was fantastic, we were shocked when reading some of the reviews, a great selection of both fish and meats which suited our party. Tasty goodness is all I can... More

The food was nice but slightly overpriced for what it was. 2 of the servers in black clothing were excellent. However the third server wearing casual clothes did not look presentable enough to serve food. Also, I was sitting at a two seater table on my own and he rudely took the second chair during my meal. He might as... More

I was put off by the prices but thought it must be something special so I thought I would give it a go. Starter: oysters came out beautifully presented. They were delicious!! 12euros Main: trio of fried fish and chips. The fish was crispy and fresh. I was so disappointed with the chips. The chips were dry and not what... More

This is a cute and cosy restaurant and the food was pretty nice. Just thought it was incredibly pricey (tourist prices) for what you got. My lamb came out overcooked and while it was a generous portion, at €30-40 for mains it should be faultless. The sides were also pretty average and the seating was very cramped so you had... More
