This used to be an exquisite seafood restaurant overflowing with atlantic fish entrees and ingenious twists on traditional coastal starters such as haddock smokies. On our most recent visit and sadly our last we struggled to find seafood amidst the beef, lamb and chicken that were obviously inserted to cater to those legions of diners who make reservations at seafood... After checking into our hotel we walked down one of Dingle's streets and went into two different shops just to chat. We we asked for Dingle's "best" restaurant, both said "Half Door." And they were right. This is a splendid restaurant, easy to find, near the center of town. When I ordered fish stew as a starter, I expected a... More

Fantastic vegetarian food and they let you order off the menu. Amazing lunch service! Waiter has great recommendations. The beet risotto is to die for.

We ate delicious food here, a real "foodie" experience. The tables are a bit closer together than Doyles next door (where you need a reservation). Here we didn't need a reservation. It's more expensive than some of the places we ate outside of Dingle town, but when you consider what you get for the money it seems fair. They have... More

My 5 lady friends and I ate here last week and it is without doubt the very best restaurant in Dingle. Brilliant waiter, friendly and extremely efficient, who pays great attention to every little detail including the folds in the napkins! Food was excellent with great attention paid to presentation and quality. Definitely a restaurant not to be missed when... More

Half Door was our find of the trip this year. We spent 4 weeks on Dingle in this our 8th trip to Ireland from the US. It was definitely our FAV place for mussels, and we eat them all over Ireland like maniacs! Half Door also has two preparations of them--one is a spicy chili pepper sauce, the other traditional... We went here as a group of four on a Saturday evening. There was no reservations made and my partner recommended we try this restaurant while walking past. We decided to go in am the waiter was extremely accommodating and managed to find a table of the four of us. The atmosphere was very vibrant and the capacity was near... More

The food was amazing and the service was excellent. One waiter ran the whole place and he was wonderful. This was recommended by a local and they didn't steer us wrong. Need reservations

Recently had dinner in the half door, we were a group of 17 and they had no issue accommodating us. Great variety in the menu to meet needs of all in the group - not just seafood, a lot of meat options and vegetarian options also. Very friendly staff, service was prompt and feedback from all was that all courses... More

The best of several excellent meals in Dingle. A wonderful seafood chowder to start, followed by baked hake and a delicious bread and butter pudding. The portions were huge; the seafood chowder was a meal in itself. So I would recommend ordering only two courses if you hope to have room for dessert. The early dinner fixed price menu is... More
