Description: We just had lunch there. The best Scones I have ever tasted. We had Crab Cocktail and an Omelette - both lovely. The owned Grainne O'Connell was wonderfully friendly and helpful.

Probably a little pricey for what you get, but it's simple, freshly prepared good food that any age group would be happy with. I had my elderly Dad with me and it's only plain food he likes to eat. Tisn't many places you'll find a ham and cheese salad plate these days. Theirs is made with their own delicious home-cooked... More

Headed here for a quick bite while passing through Kenmare. Adequate place if you are looking for a sandwich, toastie, or salad. Pretty ordinary and simple plate served and staff didn't even ask what kind of bread one required for a sandwich. Seafood open sandwiches and salads were very overpriced and the pint of Guinness had to be the worst... More

A group of us had a great meal and many drinks at the Purple Heather. Great food and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

We had a nice lunch here during our stay in Kenmare, upon a recommendation from staff at the park hotel. We had soup, salad and an open faced sandwhich, everything was garden fresh and prepared well. The service was great and quick without being pushy. The recommendation of a local cider was especially appreciated.

While trying to find a pub for lunch in Kenmare we came across this traditional looking pub. We ordered a cheese plate and two pints as we did not have much time. The result of our choice turned to be one of the best in times. Lots of cheese selection, nice home made bread and a really nice and helpful... More

If it has lasted for at least 50 years it must be doing something right! A comfortable if slightly gloomy and maybe old fashioned pub/restaurant, tasty food and pleasant staff. It will last another 50 years!!

After perusing numerous bars along the main street in Kenmare today, we decided to wander in to purple heather for lunch along with our three children. There were no menus outside so it wasn't until we were seated that we could view the menu which was lacking in variety. The owner, quick to mention she was the owner gave us... More

I did not dine here but was with friends who did - and it is one of their favorite places to eat. The food definitely looked very good. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. A comfortable place to go whether alone or with friends.

We had Lunch on Friday 22nd. November 2013 and it was most enjoyable. We had 2 Toasted Sandwiches and 2 Coffees and they were delicious. The Purple Heather is owned by Grainne O'Connell and it is marvellous to see " hands -on management " with such great friendliness and efficiency. The atmosphere and ambience of the establishment ooze Olde Worlde... More

This restaurant made me feel like I was in Ireland! The floor squeaks and the locals chat away. The lunch was delightful amid a cozy atmosphere.
