We just had lunch there. The best Scones I have ever tasted. We had Crab Cocktail and an Omelette - both lovely. The owned Grainne O'Connell was wonderfully friendly and helpful.

We were traveling on Ring of Kerry in very bad weather and we stopped in Purple Heather to warm up a little. The place is very nice and cozy, with fireplace and warm atmosphere. Staff is very friendly, especially the waiter who served us and gave us good view on the menu and followed by his recommendation we had soup... More

Decent service, poor quality food. We were disappointed. Who can screw up a sandwhich? These guys can. Mushy and tastless on thin soggy bread. The soda bread on the side was good but really? Try somwhere else that has an interest in what they serve.

The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The food itself was tasty, however it was way overpriced. A salmon salad was €17.50!!!!! A portion of brown bread was €2.50 per person! We ordered open chicken sandwiches which came on the smallest slice of brown bread I've seen. There was no coleslaw etc on the side just lettuce, thin... More

Loved, loved, loved the mushroom soup and the cappuccino. My husband loved the BLT sandwich. The staff was very friendly and quick. You don't have to wait long for your food.

I have eaten in the Purple Heather many times over a very long time and it is really nice to go back and find that the food is just as good as last time, the menu may have changed but the quality is always great. Cosy atmosphere.

Upon entering you may think it's your usual pub grub but we were pleasantly surprised to see healthy and fresh options on the menu. I had a crabmeat sandwich which was perfect for lunch after an 18km walk! Staff are very attentive and had no problem amending my order slightly. Would return.

We popped in for a quick lunch in early October. The Purple Heather is a casual place that seemed to attract both tourists and locals. We ordered sandwiches with tea for my wife and a pint for me. Very tasty -- delicious brown bread! -- and attentive service.

This place seemed well run, very popular and had a variety of healthy options, way beyond fish and chips. The manager was on top of things despite the crowd!

stopped here last week for lunch, found it a little overpriced for the tiny portions you get very average place plenty of nicer places in Kenmare for food.
