I have eaten in the Purple Heather many times over a very long time and it is really nice to go back and find that the food is just as good as last time, the menu may have changed but the quality is always great. Cosy atmosphere.

Upon entering you may think it's your usual pub grub but we were pleasantly surprised to see healthy and fresh options on the menu. I had a crabmeat sandwich which was perfect for lunch after an 18km walk! Staff are very attentive and had no problem amending my order slightly. Would return.

We popped in for a quick lunch in early October. The Purple Heather is a casual place that seemed to attract both tourists and locals. We ordered sandwiches with tea for my wife and a pint for me. Very tasty -- delicious brown bread! -- and attentive service.

This place seemed well run, very popular and had a variety of healthy options, way beyond fish and chips. The manager was on top of things despite the crowd!

stopped here last week for lunch, found it a little overpriced for the tiny portions you get very average place plenty of nicer places in Kenmare for food.

We went for a quick lunch and the service and atmosphere were great - we sat next to the cosy wood-burning stove. I chose crab cocktail and salmon pate. Both were gorgeous. The crab was as good as I have ever had and the pate, with toast and smoked salmon and salad, was excellent too. I would be considering giving... More

It's a nice hideaway from the busy street outside. The menu is varied and the food is good quality if a little expensive. Despite not having tables outside like the other restaurants it is consistently busy and the service is quick and efficient.

Many fresh and healthy options on the menu and a good selection of beverages. The atmosphere was quite pleasant; food and service were quite good. Glad we chose the Purple Heather for our lunch.

I ate lunch there almost every day for 3 weeks. Huge, delicious menu. I'm partial to the Purple Heather Omelet and their Toasted Special sandwich. The pate's and prawns are big winners too. The atmosphere makes you feel like you're being welcomed home for a family meal.
