Graham and Lynne are the perfect hosts. You are always guaranteed to have a friendly welcome from their regular customers too. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the chef always produces top class food. I can't wait to go back.

Visited for lunch. Quite a lot of fish on menu - which I don't eat. My partner said the fish and chips were very good. I had sandwich and home-made chips - which were very good. Not a posh place and a bit cold - but the open fire was lovely. Staff friendly.

It is just a normal village pub, not particularly big or flashy decor but the food we had there one evening midweek was excellent. I recommend the Thai king prawn noodle soup as it was very tasty and meaty. I then had a local steak pie which was also superb. The pub gets crowded to the brim on quiz night,... More

Had an enjoyable meal here. The food was nice and staff were helpful and friendly. It is quite a small pub and you do get quite a few people in drinking so it can get quite loud if busy.

One of the best things about going to Carlisle for Christmas is the chance to head to the Wheatsheaf. Popped in for drinks on 23rd and headed back on Boxing Day for dinner. Great as usual - food was delicious and service great. Pub was busy as usual and we love the relaxed feel of the place.

Very busy recommended to book as venue not large. Country pub plenty of character. We were served in a very friendly manner and staff were brilliant. Now for the food absolutely gorgeous and we're a fussy bunch. Food was hot and very tasty. No pressure to vacate seats and we stayed till closing. Will definately revisit this one .

We had a family meal at the Wheatsheaf, what a fantastic place. How great is to eat such a fantastic meal in a lovely traditional pub that is so warm and welcoming. Where do I start? Food-EXCELLENT without a doubt. Good portions ( none of this fancy minute portions) Price-extremely good value for money. We have paid twice as much... More
