Best Gammon Steak in Cumbria

Love this pub! It's our local (how lucky are we?). The gammon steak is just delicious, as are the home made chips. Ben is a very friendly and helpful barman. My husband had fish and chips with baked beans. Wide choice of food available. Nothing too much trouble. Can also recommend the Shiraz... read more

Great family meal for 16 of us. Food fabulous - delicious and hot. Think we managed to order 16 different things. The pub was easy to deal with and happily accommodated the increase in numbers, the option to have 4 separate bills within the group and pensioners portions for the over 80s. A great little village pub.

Visited here on a Friday night in February 2015. What I liked: Service was prompt and attentive, and the ambience of the placed oozed of localism. Menu was good and I opted for pulled pork whilst my partner opted for the lamb. Both were excellent and cooked to order. Portion sizes were generous and there was plenty to eat. We... More

Enjoyed excellent lunch with family group of eight. Every plate was cleared. (Three roast dinners, two salads, beef stir fry, bistro steak and a pizza for the five year old). Good, friendly service.

A really good village pub that provided a great experience when ordering food as a group of three. There is a wide selection of options on an extensive menu, which is all quite reasonably priced (3 courses for £25). In addition to the menu itself there is also a specials board. The atmosphere and bar scene is lively. The starter... More

Visited while on a business trip with colleagues who had recommended due to quality of food. The outside seemed quite unassuming but welcome was very friendly as we're all the locals. However, the food was better than colleagues said. Really high quality, both ingredients and preparation. The bar has some good ales and reasonable selection of drinks and the bar... More

One of the friendliest village pubs you're ever likely to visit AND get a fantastic meal with first class real ales and wines.

The staff are always welcoming and professional, and there are a good selection of ales, which are always well kept. Last week we ate there and it was some of the best bar food we have eaten. I had slow cooked lamb, which melted in the mouth, and my girlfriend had the faitas, which she said were lovely. Both the... More

Called in for lunch, there was a pleasant barman, the place was nice and warm and the food was very good, we didn't have to wait long for it either. Will definitely be back.
