We went for dinner & I can honestly say the food was amazing. I had fish, hubby had the burger. Good sized portions. There is an offer for 3 dishes (small plates) £10 which we will do next time. Service friendly, quick and nothing too much trouble. Can't wait to go back.

This is a lovely place to eat whether in the restaurant or coffee shop/deli, the food is fresh and seasonal, the chef is very good, the service is friendly and welcoming. The two rooms are just the right size: not big enough to feel barn-like and not small enough to hear everyone at the next table, the nicest kind of... More

I love Thompson's Bistro! whether it is for a quiet lunch, dinner or just popping in for a glass of wine, the staff are very friendly and the ambiance is excellent. Just a very short walk from Market Square.

Freshly prepared high quality ingredients, sensible prices. Warm and genuine welcome, (none of that "Have a nice day" insincerity) Day-times ideal for all sorts from the best coffee in Sudbury, to a quality made snack, yet in the evening, it changes to an unpretentious quality restaurant, It's the kind of place that you can feel just at home having a... Went to try something new in town but was pretty underwhelmed. Sort of place builders take their girlfriends on a Friday night.

We went to Thompson's Bistro this evening. From the taking of our (last minute) booking to us leaving the premises, we couldn't have been looked after better. Everything was just so polite, professional and a little bit special. David, who seems to run the Bistro, was excellent in attending to our every need. From taking our coats, to recommending a... One of the best meals ever! This little Gem of a restaurant hidden away in the old town of Sudbury (Gainsborough street) has a vibrant atmosphere and the most welcoming staff. The locals are in drinking and welcome all visitors to the town with a friendly hello and enjoyable conversation at the bar. The food is to die for and... More

Read the earlier reviews and (as we had to be in Sudbury) though that we would give it a try. The earlier reviews (I think) over rate the place but then everything needs context. Two of us had two courses each and shared a bottle of wine - price wise it was about the same as (say) Pizza Express. So... More

My boyfriend and I stumbled across this whilst staying in Sudbury for the weekend. We popped in for one drink on the way to finding somewhere to eat for the evening, but ending up staying the whole evening and eating here. We have to say that the friendly service was first class; even though the place was very busy we... More

Booked following reading the reviews on here and firstly need to say the overall view of the quality of the food was great, however the rest of the experience almost got to be comical. I would not normally leave a long review but thought on this occasion I should do so. Upon arrival we were given the main menu, the... More
