Excellent Food, Excellent Value

Sometimes what you crave is some nice honest British food cooked really well for a reasonable price in a cozy unpretentious pub, and that is exactly what we got here. The pies were almost solid with meat and the steaks were both tender and cooked to perfection. Combined with friendly staff and... read more

At the end of a long day walking the limestone way, the Sycamore took us in & mothered us. We had no where to stay, it was 9pm but Janet's Mum runs a camp site & she ran us up. Brilliant that the pub has a shop (a la Ireland), even more so that they had Old Tom on draft... More

My husband and I had returned to the UK after 30 years to revisit our favorite spots, Much has changed of course, but this pub was a standout on our visit for qualities that are timeless. Becky, the landlady, is the heart and soul of this charming local pub that makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in... More

Locally source meat, which was cooked to perfection. You didnt need the steak knife to cut it, the staff and local people welcome you. A verygood value meal which we all enjoyed.

Visited here for Sunday Lunch with my parents. Good roast dinner that came in two sizes, and a very good selection of puddings. Nothing fancy, but a standard Sunday lunch done well. Friendly bar staff and a cosy atmosphere.

I know trip advisor is subjective so I should understand all the 5 stars given to this pub but I don't. We had a very average meal here. I believe it is more of a local pub and that if you are known, you would have perhaps appreciated it more.

The Sycamore Pub was wonderful on a bitterly cold winter night. Their food really hit the spot, and their beer was very well appreciated as well. The staff were super friendly, giving good advice on local beer to try out. We were the first patrons of the evening, but it got quite busy pretty soon after - but they were... More

Last minute decision to dine out so husband called around at lunchtime to book a table for that evening. Its a great little cosy pub and just ask before you arrive if you can bring the four legged member of the family they usually get a little treat from the people behind the bar. I had the local gammon egg,... More

Whilst visiting the area popped in here for a meal. The service was friendly and drinks served well. Plenty of food options available; the pie I opted for was a decent portion, chips fresh and hot, peas cooked well. The pie was a little overcooked but tasty and moist. Decent quality pub food. Would happily return.

Myself and a party of 12 friends and 2 small children came for lunch today after reading reviews and looking for somewhere to eat as we were staying in the local area! It did not disappoint; believe what you read on here! The owner/chef was fantastically accommodating of such a large party at short notice on a Sunday and after... More
