Beautiful food in beautiful surroundings

I visited piedaniels in bakewell in July 2015. The dining room is beautiful with some lovely art on the wall and big windows out onto the garden. The wine list was great with lots of options by the glass so we could get different drinks without having to get two bottles. The service was brilliant... read more

Good as lat time we visited. The food was excellent, plenty of choice and well cooked. As last time, portions were a little large and sharing perhaps starter or dessert is a good idea. When busy, can be a little slow as everything is cooked from scratch - given the portions this gave time to digest the previous course!

My partner and I arrived in Bakewell and had previously booked this delightful restaurant for our first night in the town, and we are so pleased we did! We were met with a big beaming smile from Christiana and we consequently embarked on lovely conversation with her, such a charming lady and a credit to her establishment. Our meal was... More

Tried to book to celebrate my birthday but closed in Mondays. Booked table for Thursday instead to celebrate and end week's camping holiday. Great environment and friendly and welcoming staff. Service was excellent attentive but not pushy. Choose a la carte menu. Monkfish ceviche, calf liver in lime and honey (heaven) and crepes for me. Hubby had duck pudding (very... More

A very pleasant welcome into a nicely decorated restaurant led into a great evening, after a day's walking nearby. All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed the food & drink with good service throughout. We rebooked for the following evening. It was just as good the day after. I shall return again when next in Bakewell.

Love the mid week menu that offers a number of courses at a reduced rate, the portions are small and so pudding can usually be managed. The full menu is a wonderful treat. Always a venue for our special occasions. The staff are lovely and the setting is calm and very civilised

Good welcome on reception. Well looked after went the extra mile to offer a cushion for my bad back. Service attentive but not pushy. Food first class, good choice of dishes and nothing too terribly clever for the sake of it. All in all a pleasant evening and would recommend but I would book to avoid disappointment

We started with the Lobster terrine served with gazpacho coulis, each had the Pan fried Derbyshire beef fillet topped with parsley crust served with green peppercorn sauce and steamed turned potatoes, and finished with a Crêpes Suzette cooked in fresh orange sauce flamed with brandy liqueur and Homemade ice cream served in a filigree basket with raspberry coulis. Everything was... More

We were looking for a restaurant to eat at on our way back from the Lake District to London & using Tripadvisor decided to go here. It was well worth the detour. Lovely staff and excellent food. If we are ever in the area again we would certainly return. Also the set menu was excellent value.
