We waited 30 mins for our food then had to eat in the car cos of parking running out. They seemed to have forgotten about us then accused us of having just ordered a drink! All customers looked annoyed. when we got our food the fish was dripping brown grease, like it had been cooked in very old oil! Chips... More

As residents of Bakewell, we always go to Spice Cottage for take-away fish and chips. The staff are very friendly and the fish is cooked fresh as you order it. Although you have to wait a few minutes, we think it is much better than having a fish which has been cooked a long time in advance. The portions are... More

We weren't sure about going to this place, after looking at it from the outside, but looking at the trip advisor reviews, we decided to give it to go to and I'm really pleased we did. The food was so nice, probably one of the best curries I've had and I've been to quite a few places. The naan bread... More

Food was impressive. The ingredients were very fresh, and the spices just right. Well presented, too. Service was decent, and the waiter friendly enough. The atmosphere was lacking (perhaps our fault for visiting at 10.00pm during the Bakewell carnival) and the decor a little average. The music was a little shocking. Most disturbingly, the place has a 1* food hygiene... More

Went here the other day with 4 friends. We were the only people in that evening but we had a nice meal and the waiter made sure we were looked after. All in all nothing to complain about other than a slightly oily onion bhaji but not something worth complaining about. it's quite a basic restaurant with a fairly basic... More

Well, we had a trip to Bakewell and fancied some lunch. As we walked round we caught sight of this place and went in to see what they had on offer. At first we were excited as we thought we had found an Indian restaurant that served during the day. We realised by day it is a fish and chip... More

The new buffet style is great and really good value for money in pleasant surroundings. Never been disappointed and great for groups of friends or family.

Don't let the chippy underneath this Indian restaurant/takeaway put you off, the food was great at a good price, with very friendly service from the owner (I presume) Will definetly visit again.

Overall my wife and I were satisfied with the food and prices but felt badly let down with the service, which as the only two customers in there early on a Monday evening was very disappointing. After finishing the main course the waiter seemed more interested in reading his paper than asking if we required a desert or coffees. In... More
