Great traditional Sunday lunch

We booked the Ashford Arms for a Sunday lunchtime meal for our wedding anniversary, after hearing good reports. I have to say, if you want just a good wholesome traditional Sunday lunch it is great! The meat was beautiful (and believe me I can be funny!), the vegetables all fresh, the Yorkshire... read more

Me and my family had gone out to celebrate so decided to book in here, although it did take me several attempts to book in as no-one seems to like answering the phone. However when we got there the food was really tasty, I had steak stuffed with Stilton and wrapped in bacon topped off with a madera sauce- WOW... More

Gorgeous pub with great food and service and good selection of ales. Steak night is unbelievable value and the food is delicious, We visit quite often and even when it's packed the service is perfect, a really lovely place to visit

Despite being recommended this was a disappointing trip. The carrot and coriander soup was way way too sweet.

Lovely gods and great steak night as usual, slightly disappointed at the steak I had Wednesday as it had slight amount of fat, not good for a fillet, but the peppercorn sauce and real onion rings really made up for it.

We were looking forward to our food here but were disappointed. A friend said it was the worst fillet steak he had ever eaten - tasteless and bland. The rest of the food was ok but nothing special. Staff were attentive but we preferred the Bulls Head around the corner

After visiting Chatsworth gardens and grounds on the 2 July we decided to look for an eating place to celebrate one of the groups birthday. We stopped at Ashford and had a walk around as it was such a charming village. Had a good welcome at Ashford Arms, a fantastic meal, we all had something different and all 7 of... More

The settings were fabulous, lovely country pub, nice beer garden. Busy restaurant and I felt we were an inconvenience to the waitress as we did not have her full attention. When we asked to order drinks after the first drink was given she walked to the bar to fetch this. We had not finished the list so had to wait... More

Enjoyed the food, but service left a lot to be desired. We had booked a table for 6pm and entered the front door. We were promptly til the restaurant wasn't open yet and that a hotel guest had left the door open when they shouldn't have! We were shown to our table next to the ramp walkway in the conservatory....
