Great food, great service and a warm welcome. A very extensive menu and everything tastes home made. Because of its popularity there is a need to book.

A party of 7 of us went for a special celebration lunch. The choice of real ales was excellent. The food menu was even better. We all enjoyed various good quality meals with pent of food on the plates. The service was attentive and friendly. We all went home praising the Ashford Arms.

We ate here twice during a weeks stay in Ashford in the water. We were lucky to get a table on bank holiday Monday without booking. My husband had liver which was very tender and I had a sizzling chicken dish. Mine was served at the table. Both were equally delicious. The next time was on the Thursday when we... More

Great menu with loads of choice. We managed to get a table on a quiet Monday evening. Congratulations on offering great service with friendly staff and lovely food. We would have returned if we could have booked a table but due to its reputation and popularity we were unable to. Highly recommended and great value.

We visited 21st August, a Thursday, which happened to be one of their sizzle and griddle nights. This basically means they have their normal menu plus a whole raft of specials on a sizzle/griddle theme. There is a fantastic choice already in their standard menu, but their specials board added about a half dozen extra, all sounding great. We settled... More

The food was excellent. The service very good. The downside was the manager/landlord. We were only the second people to arrive for lunch We asked a member of staff where we could sit and he said anywhere. The first table we chose had a reserved sign on it so we chose another table. That also had a reserve sign so... More

We stayed in Ashford for three nights and decided to eat here on the first night. As it was a Wednesday, we thought it would be half full. Wrong, it was packed but they managed to squeeze us in - my wife was actually sat in the ingle nook fireplace. It was steak night and we both had a fillet... More

We visited on a Saturday early evening, having booked a table in advance. Firstly had to queue at the bar for 10 minutes before being taken to the table (there should be someone to greet guests). After ordering, had to wait another hour before food arrived and the steak was overcooked! I complained and was just told they were very... More

I live locally and visited the pub a few times over the years. Went recently after not being able to get into our favourite place in Cromford - The Market Place. I took the family hoping to have a good Sunday lunch, but after the poor starters: Thai fishcakes, we almost knew at that point that we were not going... More
