The food was excellent. The service very good. The downside was the manager/landlord. We were only the second people to arrive for lunch We asked a member of staff where we could sit and he said anywhere. The first table we chose had a reserved sign on it so we chose another table. That also had a reserve sign so... More

We stayed in Ashford for three nights and decided to eat here on the first night. As it was a Wednesday, we thought it would be half full. Wrong, it was packed but they managed to squeeze us in - my wife was actually sat in the ingle nook fireplace. It was steak night and we both had a fillet... More

We visited on a Saturday early evening, having booked a table in advance. Firstly had to queue at the bar for 10 minutes before being taken to the table (there should be someone to greet guests). After ordering, had to wait another hour before food arrived and the steak was overcooked! I complained and was just told they were very... More

I live locally and visited the pub a few times over the years. Went recently after not being able to get into our favourite place in Cromford - The Market Place. I took the family hoping to have a good Sunday lunch, but after the poor starters: Thai fishcakes, we almost knew at that point that we were not going... More

We were visiting from the US and I'm guessing we might not have figured out the whole "pub" experience. At any rate, we arrived and the place was packed, so we assumed it must be very good. We got the very last parking spot and ventured in. There were no tables available (we figured out on our own as staff... More

We visited Ashford recently for a walking weekend and visited the Ashford Arms each evening for a meal and it was excellent. Very reasonably priced and great value for money. I am Coeliac and need Gluten Free Food - no problem here - excellent choice

Lovely beer garden. Wide ranging menu, light lunches or something more substantial with good range of veggie options too. Opted for the cheese baguette, chips, salad and pickle. All fresh and nicely presented. Arrived quickly. Appeared a popular venue for a a Monday lunch time. Staff polite. Clean surroundings but as with many pubs these days the decor was a... More

A lovely old world pub not bland modern décor like some and very comfortable. The food is excellent, choice wide ranging, the staff were very helpful and friendly, even fetching more gravy for my husband, although very busy very obliging. The desserts are really good value and the lemon vacherin. can recommend. This is our second visit when in the area and... More

Visited with my parents. Rather sullen waiting staff. The Venetian blinds were thick with dust and the decor very dated. However the food was good and piping hot. Toilets clean.
