Superb food. Different interesting menu. Staff who clearly want to be there and who take pride in what they do. Visited at 2000 on a Saturday night and left at midnight. Unrushed. Reassuringly expensive for food and wine

We visited the Methuen Arms on a busy Wednesday in December as a party of 6, and were looked after from start to finish, by excellent staff. Rib eye steak was one of the best I have ever eaten. My Son had the Deep Fried Prawns with Chilli and Tomato Chutney to start with, and I had to stop him... More

We had booked a table for 7pm, arrived on time, had a drink in the bar with menues, ordered food, we had the remainder of the wine in bar, they ordered us a taxi, we paid then left. A fantastic evening! Great food and service, can't wait to go back!

Last month we tried The Methuen after being recommend it from a friend . We had great food and a lovely time but our waiter was forgetful and came across rude. We put it down to a one off experience and down to how good the meal was we were willing to give it another try. So today we booked... More

although prices look a little expensive on first glance, our meal was worth every penny for the quality, flavours and presentation. My main course pan fried salmon with mussels, leeks and pink fir apple potatoes was exquisite and I didn't want it to end! Despite it being a busy Saturday, and we hadn't booked, we were made very welcome. Staff... More

Had lunch; very warm welcome from staff who were happy to chat. Lovely architecture, decor, stripped boards, log stove. Originally opted for set menu, £15.50 for 2 courses, but then found venison scotch egg sold out so changed to a la carte menu (sandwich menu £8.95 for not particularly exciting sandwiches). Martin had a really good burger, £13.95, with dill... More

We live within walking distance of The Methuen Arms and are lucky enough to have eaten here on a few occasions. We had a 3 course evening meal with a bottle of wine for 2 and we had no change from £100. A little expensive, but, well worth the money as the food and service was excellent. We sat outside... Ate there as part of my stay - outstanding meals for dinner and breakfast. Dinner was served until quite late luckily for us. We had an extremely well made G&T each followed by a very good meal (we only had one course as we ate so late) Breakfast was even better still. Service for both meals - outstanding

The Methuen Arms had been recommended to us by numerous friends. We finally made it as a family group for a mid-week lunch. We opted for the lunchtime menu I.e. Three courses for £18.50. We were spoilt for choice. We all had very tasty, good quality meals and thought it was excellent value for money. We will definitely be going... More

popped in for lunch and to read the papers on a child-free weekend. I had the pork belly with speck and it was delicious, my wife had the very generous caesar salad and some chips - house red ewas a very commendable merlot. Service a little slow, was going to order dessert but waited 20 mins for the menu so... More
