Mother's Day Sunday Roast - The Best Ever!

We booked a table for a family party of 15 for lunch including a couple of young children and were delighted to be given our own room. The staff were excellent, polite and friendly and their service was prompt and attentive. The food was served in good time and was superb. I would never normally... read more

The Methuen Arms, has a fantastic location, building, and has recently (3 yrs) ago been fabulously re-furbished. We've eaten there on a few occasions, the food is good but not great!, some fancy menu titles but on two occasions the food has been 'not hot' when served :-(, and disappointed not to have veg as well!?, I'm sure this would... I attended a 2 day training event, which my employers decided to hold in the function room of the Methuen Arms. As part of the training, a buffet lunch was organised. I'm on a gluten-free diet and my manager informed me that the proprietors of the Methuen Arms would be able to meet these dietary requirements. The food provided was... More

We visited the Methuen for my wife's birthday on a Saturday evening and concerns about the above average prices and past reviews about slow service were soon banished. It was a very busy night and the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. We sat in the dining room at the front of the building which was cosy and intimate. If... More

Came in here on a Saturday evening to meet up with some friends. The place was extremely busy, which i appreciate, but they had a single bar man trying to serve both sides of the bar. There seemed to be a lot of people floating in and out not doing a lot, but not one offered to help him out.... More

Felt more like a pub meal then taking my family out for lunch to a restaurant. Food ok, soup a little salty and had to pay extra to have bread with the soup....£26.50 for a Sunday lunch? A little too expensive. I appreciate they were busy but 2.5 hours to serve 3 courses (and Sunday roasts at that) was a... More

We had lunch here on a Saturday. The staff were very pleasant. I ordered fish and chips which were excellent and my wife chose a burger. It was the best burger she had ever tasted and she asked if that message could be passed on to the kitchen. The atmosphere in the bar was relaxed too and the log fire... More

Good food well cooked in a lovely old Inn. Fish was undercooked first time around but was quickly and professionally sorted. Roast beef with all the trimmings was very good. Service was excellent and couldn't be faulted.

Visited here as a family group of 6. Great tasting beer. Ordered a variety of staters & mains. All excellent - good quality at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend this pub/resturant to all. The candle lighting makes for a very atmospheric evening
