Terrible food, even worse Landlord

Avoid this pub like the plague! Overpriced and awful food, the most expensive lager outside of Chelsea, miserable as sin, rude female barmaids and a morbidly obese landlord called Mark who imposes a lifetime ban to anyone who dares to swear. Utter Moron. The most over rated dump I've ever been to... read more

I have passed this pub on my way to work over the last 9 years and have always wanted to try it. So Sunday we went for lunch. We were pleased to see a proper normal country pub with an open fire. Lovely menu, with proper pub food. We ordered the beef and lamb standard Sunday Lunch, which arrived very... More

A quite snug pub on a busy junction. However very good food but worth prebooking. Wide selection of drinks but can be quite expensive compared to other drink prices in the area

In search of a light lunch and a pint of real beer we chanced upon the Hare and Hounds. The pub has a nice menu and we chose a toasted ciabatta with thick farmhouse ham, tomato and cheese with salad and a small portion of chips for an extra £1. It was wonderful - hot, tasty and the chips were... More

We've had lunch a couple of times here and enjoyed it each time. Very welcoming staff, good choice of food, reasonable prices and dogs welcomed. The "garden" is closed for the winter but it is just a strip of grass between the road and the car park so not a tranquil oasis!

We were tired and hungry and saw the welcoming lights of the pub and were delighted by the friendly welcome and the standard of food on offer. I had bangers and mash and my wife had a burger. Both were tasty and well presented. A bit on the pricey side. Quick, friendly service with a smile are what made our... More

Hello Mr Hickey, on behalf of the team thank you for your kind comments, we're all very pleased that you and your wife enjoyed your Bangers & Mash and Beef Burger. The sausages that we use are sourced locally from Downland Produce, an independent family run butchers whom rear their own pigs on the nearby Lackham College estate. Our homemade... More

Went to the Hare and Hounds some time ago and had the best steak ever so was looking forward to repeating the experience. I live 100 miles away so this was to be a treat for both myself and my mother. Ordered the steak only to be told they had run out so had to choose something else. Re-ordered, this... More

Had a meal in their a month ago ,I can't really knock the food ,but the service was very slow as it was the previous time I went there so not impressed. Also the drink prices are far too high as the Pub next door is so much cheaper . I doubt I shall be rushing in there again .
