Glad we went!

We were staying at Herb Cottage and Suzanne the owner, recommended The Plough for dinner. We had already eaten at lunchtime so only wanted a snack, something they don't normally serve on Sunday evenings, but Fred, the landlord, went out of his way to ask the kitchen to prepare something light for... read more

Visited en route to Chippenham (hospital visiting!) and welcome was very friendly from who I assume are proprietors. Then had excellent lunch of whole trout and good pint of Tunnel Vision. Will deinitely be returning.

Absolutely the worst food I've ever eaten.. The presentation and service was no better. No wonder this place is empty on a Saturday night. Don't waste your money eating here.

Last week a group of us revisited the Plough where in our youth we would have visited most nights of the week and have many great memories. Arriving at just after 8pm the pub was closing, the barman agreed to serve us and was very friendly, however an elderly gentlemen came in and made us feel very unwelcome and as... More

We visited last year and returned with a large group of friends while camping nearby. Staff and management could not have been more helpful, we booked and gave our order in advance to arrive to smiling friendly staff bringing out excellent food. If you're unsure the steak and ale pie or ribs cannot be recommended highly enough.

I chose this pub because it was listed on the Live Gluten-Free website, and I am gluten intolerant. I phoned to check the lunch serving hours, but did not mention gluten free food as it's on the pub's website so I took it for granted that it would be available. Big mistake! On arriving, I soon found out that it... More

We found this lovely little pub quite by accident. The owners are very friendly and happy to chat. We usually go in for Sunday lunch which is delicious, generously sized portions and great value for money. We have even occasionally arrived food has stopped being served but still managed to get lunch :) Dogs are very welcome too as the... More

Called in yesterday evening and decided to eat in the Bar Area. My husband opted for the Special Fish Meal, a freshly cooked Lobster. He was not quite sure how to eat it and the lady in charge was very helpful showing him what to do etc. nothing was too much trouble. I had a starter as my main meal... More

By chance the pub we intended to use for lunch was closed so we meandered on to the next village and found the Plough conveniently sited at the crossroads in Bradford Leigh. We were welcomed with open arms and enjoyed excellent main courses, the vegetable side dishes being extremely attractively served. The crown for me was the fruit sundae, normally... More

We are frequent diners-out and this pub is one of our regular venues because the food and beer is of a consistently good quality as well as being close enough. Over the last 8/9 years there has only been one disappointing meal and we did not have to pay for that one. We have got to know the owner and... More
