We went in on a cold January day with our 2 month old bay . Our baby was crying and it was clear we needed to change the nappy as the person behind the bar could hear us but he made no move to help us at all (we were the only ones in the pub). The wine tasted like... More

Are you sure you visited The Canal Tavern , forgive me but I do not remember your visit however we did have a booked table including children that did not turn up. We are not directly connected to the canal but on the offside of the towpath, we supply good child changing facilities and employ staff who also have very... More

We booked this restaurant for 29th December for 11 people, driving 1 1/2 hours to get there & they were CLOSED! They didn't answer the phone or phone us to say sorry! Luckily The Barge Inn could feed us all.

Please allow us to apologise. We had both been struck down with this terrible cold that has been doing the rounds. I neglected to check for any pending bookings and it was the new year before we were both able to resume normal business hence we were working from our new diary. During the winter I run the bar and... More

I am a keen and frequent visitor of the canal tavern. The food is to a high quality, and the roast dinners contain homemade Yorkshire puddings and are huge. The owners Mark and Nancy are lovely people, who always make sure their customers are happy. The drinks are quite expensive but the service, food and general atmosphere makes up for... More

We have used this restaurant before but during the summer daytime. This visit was a Monday evening in December and its obvious this place needs all its heat to cook food as the place was Freezing!! - its a shame as we have had good times there in the past but I cannot recommend that you use this establishment in... We apologise for the cold, I have checked today and it seems with the heating on all day we can only reach 18c hence I have requested that a heating engineer check it out and fix the issue. Kind regards Mark More

Went here for lunch after a nice walk along the canal path. Food took about 40 minutes to arrive at the table but was worth the wait. Best thing was getting a mr whippy ice cream from the pub at the end of the meal

Came from Bristol to meet up with some old friends who had hired a canal boat from Bradford on a Friday afternoon for a hen weekend and after their long drive, plus negotiating the big lock, it was getting close to dark, so The Canal Tavern, just below the Bradford Lock, was a perfect first night stop. With The George... More

We had a lovely walk along the canal today and was recommended this place by a barge owner so we thought it had to be good ! Ordered some food including the mixed grill which was highly priced at £17.95, but thought well it had to be good at that price! But I should of realised when I was ordering... More

I remember it well. Our Mixed grill is supplied buy Walter Rose the local butcher who supply many other pubs and eating establishments that require high quality and personal service. We were not aware that this mixed grill was any different in size to the many others that we have served here. This particular weekend we had ordered and prepared... More
