Met up with friends for lunch and we're surprised at how things seemed to have gone down hill. We have been many times before. There was no welcome, no encouragement to choose a table - we just sat down. No one asked us if we wanted a pudding or coffee! They were not busy at all - only one other... More

july27th 2014. Sunday lunch.. the prawn cocktail was very ordinary with tired, dry rocket and some prawns covered in tomato sauced mayonaise no lemon, no nice crisp fresh lettuce. The roast lunch was very poor. The pork tasteless, the roast potatoes, cool and soggy and not crisp and hot and if they had ever been roasted they must have lain around... More

We visited on a Saturday evening whilst we were staying at Studley Castle, we ordered 2 individual steak meals but when one of the waitesses was checking our settings, she switched us to the 2 x steak with free bottle of wine, all for £19 ish which was incredible value for money. the steaks although only rump were very lean,... We called in after visiting Coughton Court. We received a warm welcome on entering and were taken into the restaurant. The pub has a lovely charm with great views onto the biggest beer garden. I had smoked salmon roulade my partner opted for the lamb kofta both were a great start to any meal. For main course I had the... More

Having previously eaten here on many occasions, I was surprised by how empty it was on a Bank Holiday Sunday lunchtime. I soon found out why! The welcome, or more precisely, the lack of welcome we received from the person behind the bar was chilling. He didn't smile or even appear to want us there. His presentation of the bar... More

Gourmet burger was good. Generally main meals were around £8-12 (steak meals higher). Friendly service. Most mid-week evenings you probably wouldn't need to book a table, weekends probably worth booking. Mid-week meals served until about 8.30pm and probably best to dine before 8pm.

Visited here to see if things have improved from a previous visit and basically no, if you want to go to a nice place nice ambiance in pleasant surroundings to have a few drinks this is a nice place, to eat I would suggest somewhere else, The food is nice but portions are small, overpriced and if you have a... I've eaten here a couple of times, and have found the staff very welcoming and friendly. Service is pretty good and the food is traditional 'English'. The bar area, where you can also eat, is really comfortable with a fabulous blazing fire in winter and plenty of sofas and armchairs.

A group of us went on a Sunday lunchtime and when we arrived there were very few customers. Bar service was very poor - there was no one serving when I got to the bar. Eventually someone came to serve with no apology for being kept waiting and if they could have walked any slower, I'm sure they would have... More
