Excellent food, great location, but a tad cramped...

Recently visited the Throckmorton for Sunday lunch: first time in many years. We had eaten there on three occasions between 1995 and 2008 - and been disappointed by the food on every occasion. We have been to the Throckmorton 3 times now and love it. The food has been great so far. Huge fish and chips, very good burgers and the pie was lovely too. I don't eat chips but they we're happy to replace them with steamed vegetables which came in a chinese style bamboo steamer which keeps them good and hot.... More

As soon as we walked into this pub we felt relaxed, it was warm and welcoming. We were a party of 5 and we arrived in 2 groups and I was in the first group with my wife. Unfortunately, we had to wait for the second group but no one came to ask if we could be served a drink... More

Called in mid afternoon for something light to eat. Had one of the tastiest sandwiches i've had in a pub. Had chips and onion rings which were cooked perfect. excellant meal. The pub has been refurbed and looks very nice. But i did enjoy the sofa's which have now gone.

Arrived for some pre diner drinks while we waiting for the other half of our party which were running late however we weren't rushed. We were late to our table as the others were late. Once seated we were given the time we needed to catch up and read the menu. The starters (house platter x2) was just perfect and... More

We came here on Saturday evening around 6.00pm. We were offered a table although we were asked if we would be there long as they needed the table back at 7.15pm. I ordered the roasted vegetable, caramelised onion and goats cheese tartin and it was gorgeous. My boyfriend had the cottage pie which was equally as nice. The staff were... More

Went on a recommendation from a colleague at work. Had the fish set menu and was not disappointed. Had crab cakes and salmon Wellington which were both excellent. My partner had whitebait and mad goose battered cod, the size was amazing. Would go back again.
