Nice food with a trendy environment!

I like to visit many of the 'lovely pubs' as I love dining in the unique/ trendy/ urban pub style it offers in which you can relax. I'm not sure if The Moat House is my favourite though, I'm used to the style of menu and went for the cod and chips, was lovely! However, from visiting the service... read more

Called in without booking for lunch. Amazed that it was full to overflowing. We were found a decent table and had a very nice good value lunch.

Went with friends and had an excellent meal at a very good price. The service was also excellent, all staff were polite, cheerful and helpful. The only reason that I have not given 5 stars is that the table we were sat at was very close to other tables and their conversation could be clearly heard, and although the bench... More

Since the refurb the place is vibrant and buzzing. The food is of a typically good Lovely Pubs standard and the service is generally fairly good too although in my experience I find it can differ depending on the night you dine. The menu, although similar to other Lovely Pubs venues just doesn't seem quite as nice as for example... More

Dinner for 6 for a 20th birthday celebration. This updated Moat House is a vast improvement on the previous pub - décor is great, could do with more parking. Service was extremely efficient and chatty (Aussie?) with a sense of humour so lacking with most today. Food was good but not exceptional. Good addition to the area.

Went to the Moat house recently with friends for a meal and was very disappointed. We had been told how good it was and sadly our meal was not up to expectations. They have clearly put a great deal of effort and money into the project with a good deal of success but the central bar is still a hazard... More

Went for an early Sunday evening meal with hubbie and his mother. This restaurant is part of a chain and sometimes that puts me off somewhat but on this occasion we have uncovered a bit of a gem. Service was faultless, timely and helpful without being overbearing. The three of us shared a platter for the starter which was ribs,... More

The Moat house has been refurbished and is clean and modern and is very much a typical Gastro Pub. We had a table for 4 and were greeted warmly and shown an extensive menu and wine list. The waitress was very friendly and efficient and drinks very quickly served along with bread. I choose the Venison steak which was suburb... More
