This is a really characterful old inn, with a log fire and very friendly hosts. The food is traditional pub grub, and extremely tasty, as the 3 empty plates attested to. It is set at the roadside and has ample off street parking.

We visited for Sunday lunch and have been a couple of times before & have always had a warm welcome from friendly staff. The pub itself is very traditional with log fires, old with beams and low ceilings. The Sunday lunch is great value at £10 for 3 courses with a choice of 4 starters 5 mains and 6 puds, all... More

For the price we didn't expect cordon bleu cooking, the scampi was good and well cooked but the chips tasted as if they had been fried in stale fat however the service was faultless and there is plenty of parking

Don't expect cordon bleu, but what you get is good pub grub served throughout the day seven days a week at a great price. Dave is an excellent landlord and well backed up by Laura and likable young staff. Easy to park in decent surroundings as well as an historical 400 year old building. Well worth a visit - ignore... We held our wedding reception at the Moat House and it was fantastic! David and Laura are lovely lovely people. All of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed the food, which was a three course meal. The garden was great for photos. We had one room for the sit down meal and another room for the evening reception.... More

Visited this restaurant with my parents and sister for lunch. We were greeted by a young lady and young man who were both extremely pleasant and polite. The food was gorgeous all freshly cooked and only £10 for three courses real good value for money. The pub itself was a lovely old style pub. Will definitely recommend to friends and... More

We ate at this pub tonight - having read the reviews i feel maybe our standards are too high. We were met by a lady behind the bar whose smile could curdle milk - she seemed fine with the locals but clearly didnt need to make an impression on visitors - her smile was so forced. We went for the... More

We came across this pub when staying at the nearby hotel. We were greeted by the very friendly landlord who went out of his way to write down all the local pubs when we explained we were going to try them all. The pub had a lovely traditional atmosphere. Although we didn't eat there the food looked & smelt delicious.... More

Popped in for an early evening meal. Thought the service was friendly and helpful. The food homemade, tasty and excellent value for money. My young son was made to feel welcome and looked after very well. The pub itself had a traditional feel which makes a nice change from all the open plan and straight lines that a lot of... More
