Spot on bistro - service a wee bit slow

Nice views from the restaurant over the marina at Carrickfergus. We stopped for lunch at the Windrose. We had a nice lunch, two different burgers with two different types of burger. Both burgers were good and enormous. Chunky triple cooked chips were better than the skinny fries. We enjoyed a small... read more

On a sunny day sitting outside was perfect with a view of the marina. Very pleasant location close to town. We all had seafood which was fresh and well prepared. Portions were small for the price. Nice wine and beer selection. All in all, a good spot when visiting Carrickfergus.

We visit the Windrose from time to time as my mother in law likes it, despite frequently being disappointed by the food and service. It is a lovely sunny spot overlooking the marina which is what makes us return. However I couldn't recommend it for anyone who is at all choosy about their food. The mussels and main fish course... We visited the Windrose on a beautiful evening last week..we didn't have a reservation so we're delighted to get a table right away - a lovely table with nice view over marina. Restaurant filled up quickly. We were offered menus and a drink. We placed our order - food service was slow but the friendly, attentive waiting staff made up... More

Just happened by this restaurant, whilst having a walk from the Premier Inn. Very busy on the day, as the weather was warm, and it overlooks the marina, with outdoor seating. Reasonably varied menu, and the four of us had different meals, which we all enjoyed. Reasonable priced, and good service.

Very slow service ordered a burger and a steak but this took ages and another drink was ordered and My partner who had recently had surgery had to go to to the bar to remind the staff who were all chatting and doing very little. The steak was minute for £18.95 and wouldnt fill a hole in your show. Very... More

We went on the recommendation of a friend, we were very impressed with the food & the excellent service. I've since read some of the recent poor comments by others & I'm sure most were genuine, but complain at the time & most Restaurants will normally do something about it, either offer you another meal or adjust the bill, but... Excellent service, one of the best carvery's I've been to and very good value for money, if you are lucky enough to get a widow seat you will have a beautiful view of Carrick marina. The food is fantastic and the choice of starters is second to none. Pay it a visit, you won't be disappointed.
