Spot on bistro - service a wee bit slow

Nice views from the restaurant over the marina at Carrickfergus. We stopped for lunch at the Windrose. We had a nice lunch, two different burgers with two different types of burger. Both burgers were good and enormous. Chunky triple cooked chips were better than the skinny fries. We enjoyed a small... read more

We went on the recommendation of a friend, we were very impressed with the food & the excellent service. I've since read some of the recent poor comments by others & I'm sure most were genuine, but complain at the time & most Restaurants will normally do something about it, either offer you another meal or adjust the bill, but... Excellent service, one of the best carvery's I've been to and very good value for money, if you are lucky enough to get a widow seat you will have a beautiful view of Carrick marina. The food is fantastic and the choice of starters is second to none. Pay it a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Been loads of times before and enjoyed it but called in today (Mothers Day) for a couple of drinks and a cheese board to pass an hour before dinner. Cheese board was a joke - cost £8 for 6 cream crackers, 4 cheeses that tasted of smelly socks and a dozen grapes. Had 1 drink here and moved on. I... More

Took my mum to the Windrose last week for lunch and was really dissapointed. I ordered the chicken supreme, the portion was ridiculous, I got 1 breast of chicken with 4 tiny potato cubes and 4 cubes of black pudding that wouldnt have fed a small child. Mum got a burger and chips, she said the burger was incredibly dry... More

We used to come to the windrose for our Sunday carvery when it was served upstairs. We were disappointed to hear that they stopped serving a carvery, however we heard recently that the carvery was back on so we decided to go along for sunday lunch. The best way to describe our experience was poor service, poor choice and poor... More

Excellent location. If you want great pub grub this is the place to be. Great outdoor area. During the better weather you can watch football etc on the big screen. Friendly place.

We went for the Sunday carvery yesterday and could not have been more disappointed. Firstly, unlike the website suggests the food is not served in the upstairs restaurant but downstairs in the dated, dreary surroundings. The service even before the meal was shockingly bad. Next the food, the starters selection was so very poor and had not been replenished at... More

girly nite out 13/02/15 - when we arrived we were immediately directed to our prebooked table. drink order was quickly taken and recieved, which was very welcome whilst we choose from an extensive menu (which should suit everyboerfection for eady - as it had an extensive choice including vegetarian options, and a price list - which should suit all. we...
