Food great, service lacking

Used to love this place but gave it a miss for a while after the old chef left. However when he returned the food was back up to standard, lovely varied menu with a lot of thought put into it. The only downside is the service as waiting times for food orders to be taken can be quite long. Servers... read more

STORM Henry was blowing hard when we had Sunday at The Windrose. As we arrived in the car park the wind was fairly rattling the rigging of the boats in the marina. The seven of us, ranging from 8-year-old twins, through forty-somethings to senior citizens, took our seats at our table overlooking the marina and as soon as we sat down... More

very poor choice in carvery, we arrived at 1pm and when we were ready for dessert approx. 45mins later there was 1 choice of cake, I asked for cream and they said they had ran out, considering they weren't open for hours this was really not acceptable, would not return again or recommend - also our table was not cleared... Thank you for your review on the Windrose, this a strange review as we do not do a Carvery ! Maybe you got us mixed up with another restaurant , hopefully if you have you will remove your review from our page. Thank you More

On a nice day you could think you were in Monaco with the Marina at the back of the property, Staff were very good and customer service was delivered well. Drinks could have been better priced for the area especially with a weatherspoons not far away! But would recommend!

My family and I decided to have a little get together for lunch and had booked the Windrose..When we arrived we were greeted by a well dressed member of staff and shown to our table (window seating, next to a warm radiator and with a Marina view). We were given 2 menus, one of which was the full Bistro menu and... More

Friendly staff covered for what was slightly slow delivery from the kitchen, but the food was more than worth the wait. This is not haute cuisine, and had no pretence to be - but it's as good a steakhouse / burger experience as you'll find I'm sure. Decor and ambience was good too - and with the marina just outside,... More

Decided to try here for a meal last night, well wot a mistake that was. Walked in the door to be seated and there is a hole in the floor, pretty dangerous and really unattractive. Asked for a table for 2 as my bf was taking me out for birthday dinner. Staff were pretty rude and menu is limited with... More
