Popular local eating place

Otter Lodge is a well established restaurant on the edge of town. It has a wide a la carte menu as well as a shorter "early bird" one at economic prices. It is a popular restaurant, which does not accept pre-bookings. We worth a visit in a location where options for evening dining are limited.

Whether dining at lunchtime or in the evening the food at Otter Lodge is great The speciality dishes are perfectly cooked perfectly and the sweet counter will make you salivate I would recommend the hot chocolate fudge cake The surroundings are very picturesque and nice to sit on the patio area of the weather permits Will continue to return in... First off , a chef who is not capable of cooking a rare steak needs to take a hard look at the career choice they've made! Seems very popular and I have no idea why, £15.00 ribeye special , entails ribeye steak with 2 cheap frozen onion rings on top and a very large spoonful of onion marmalade from a... More

My partner & I have visited this beautiful restaurant twice within the last month. You have to go to the counter & place your order (not for everyone) but it's not a problem. My partner had the salmon and reliably told me "it was the best she'd ever had". I had the steak (cooked to perfection) the mixed vegetables, sauces... More

Having been to Otter Lodge countless of times before and also having experienced many other good restaurants, I was left a bit bewildered by these negative reviews. Some said that it is a slow service but I don’t feel it is *that* slow. However being surrounded by scenic view and with lager and Guinness on taps, it is actually a... More

From asking 3 times for a jug of water to waiting 30 minutes for garlic fries from when we already had our food wasn't bad enough my curry tasted straight from the tescos own bottle of curry. Wouldn't be back.

I've visited Otter Lodge several times for a meal and never have been disappointed. Although the decor is a bit dated, and you have to order at the bar, the food is always good and tasty. We ate lunch there twice in a week. The food was served quickly and the portions were very generous. The first time we visited... More

We enjoyed a lovely meal in the Otter Lodge, having arrived without a booking, and were made most welcome. We had a great table at the window with pleasant view. We both had chicken dishes and because we were kept waiting (for only a few minutes longer than normal) we were offered a glass of wine each. Nice touch, though... More

Have to say, the Otter Lodge is one of our favourite places to eat in Cookstown, food is always top notch and no matter when we've ever took a run over there is more than enough new things to try on the specials board. Today was no exception to that rule, the Cajun chicken and salmon fishcake mains were both... More

Let's just say for a start that you have to go and place your order at the bar. What is this the olden days? The portions aren't nearly big enough for the amount you pay. The only upside is while you wait for food you can go to for a scenic walk.
