Another great visit

This is the third time (I think) that I have brought the family here. As usual, it doesn't disappoint. Great food, plenty of it, and a happy friendly atmosphere. I had the a sweet and sour chicken which was very nice indeed and my wife had a steak. Really nice. Was a little busy but we did get... read more

First time here. I'm sorry I was not at all impressed after reading such good reviews I thought it would be ideal. I ordered baked fish and chips with mushy peas. The fish was awful, grey and did not look edible. The peas were just splashed on the plate and the chips were black and had big marks over them.... More

Found The Butchers online when looking for place for family to meet between Carmarthen and Cardiff. Not much to look at outside - noticeable as it's almost adjacent to a very pretty thatched pub, was bit disappointed externally, but we left feeling so glad we had found it, the food was seriously good ! Small, bit oldy world inside, plain wood tables,serviceable... More

Been here a few times, the food is superb, it's all homemade, service is great, there's a lovely log fire burning in the winter when you walk in, it's a small restaurant but it makes it feel more homely, the prices are a little steep, but still would go there again for special occasions only.

A very friendly place. I started, as last time, with the goats cheese and beetroot tart and it was still delicious! I then had a chicken curry which seemed to be lumps of chicken in a curry sauce rather than chicken cooked in the sauce. I enjoyed it with my "half and half" as they used to say in Cardiff.... More

We must have gone on an off day. Our family had 4 different meals and all were not what we were looking forward to based on review we had read for the Pub. It seemed expensive. We are not picky or fussy so not sure what went wrong for us.

We visited again on our way home, as due to family circumstances we haven't been for awhile. Excellent welcome along with service which was lovely. Our meals were perfect with the large portions served as usual. The standard is high along with the quality of local food used. This is a family favourite and it was a joy to return... More

Lunch today was top notch. Ribeye steak cooked to perfection, asked for it to be cooked medium and it certainly was. Home cooked chips, home cooked onion rings excellent produce ,and first class service from the young staff both behind the bar and those serving our food. Excellent pub and they deserve the praise.

We've been to the Butchers Arms a number of times in the past few months, and have never been disappointed. Exceptionally generous portions, great service from local youngsters, and the specials are always a terrific option. But go there hungry! The main portions will have you loosening your belt and patting your stomach with a contented sigh. And the cockle... More
