Our go-to for lunch in Skipton

We regularly go to the Bistro for lunch when we are in Skipton. Their menu du jour is always excellent value and the cooking is of the highest standard. We visited with friends and the staff were friendly and efficient, the food was delicious and the lunch menu is very good value indeed.

8 friends dined in an upstairs room. The staff were very welcoming and provided excellent friendly service. The menu choice was good, though some of the dishes were over-elaborate for some of the party - but there was enough choice for the. The food was of high quality and well presented. The restaurant was more expensive than we might normally... More

During our holidays in Yorkshire, we were so lucky to find some restaurants that embraced the France kitchen - which I am sorry to say is much better than the English. Des Amis was one them and we had the great pleasure of having an excellent meal there. We came without having a booked table, but it was not a... More

Whilst visiting Skipton, we came across Le Bistro des Amis, and were instantly transported from deepest, darkest Yarkshire (not a mis-spelling, just an interpretation of the accent) to Montmartre !! We only called in for a snack and a drink before returning home, and Des Amis fulfilled that task with aplomb. They produced a huge and tasty Croque Monsieur for... More

Atmospheric venue, lovely staff and fabulous food. What more would you want? I'm not local but visited this restaurant a year ago and it remains as good as I remembered.

Overall we had a good experience at Le Bistro des Amis, but there were a couple of issues: one just a simple matter of taste and the other down to service attention. The restaurant is a little difficult to find, being along a small alley off the main street. Inside the restaurant is very attractively laid-out. And was busy enough... More

after eating here on Saturday, the service I received from the waitress was diabolical, she was rude and looked like she didn't want to be here. I had the beef which was overlooked and like a piece of old leather. I will definitely not eat here again.

Happened upon this when visiting Skipton Market. Went in for lunch and didn't need supper that evening. Lovely food and good wine. Had the French ploughmans as a main course. A good selection of meats and cheeses. My wife had the plaice which was also good. Excellent bread to accompany both.
