I had the sausage and mash which were great the veg served with it less so. Anita had the chicken burger which is actually a chicken breast on a burger bun... read more

Hidden away in a narrow cobbled side street you could easily miss this place completely. However, once you find it you'll want to go back and take your friends there too. That's how I first sampled their food and ales and at the third visit today I'm still well satisfied. I had the "Wild Boar2 sausage and mash meal and... More

My family and I arrived at a busy lunch time. We settled down with our little dog ordered drinks and food. Lovely lunch time choices. We were at the back of a large food order so was slightly delayed. The staff offered to pay for our car parking !! Could not fault the food or service. It was amazing. The... More

Having been recommended this pub by a fellow beer-loving mate, I made a point of visiting with my wife and children. It was a cold day so we were looking forward to a warm lunch and, having travelled from from Queensland, Australia, the Narrow Boat had long been on my list of pubs to visit in Yorkshire. I held the... More

A good lunch, well above the average pub grub (roast beef sandwich with gravy and sweet potato fries for me, classy cullen skink with scallops for my brother). Welcoming and helpful staff. Great range of local beers available, good solid wood tables and fittings here. An original, as far away from plastic pub chains as possible, and more than an... More

Totally agree with the previous comment, on a wet snowy Saturday afternoon this was a delight. It's no Birdseye nonsense, just beautiful.

Called in for lunch and what a delight. We both ordered the posh fish finger sandwich never tasted fish like it and the beer batter was to die for. When we ordered I expected just one fish finger but when it came there was three so it made for a nice sandwich. We called a second time on a Sunday... More

The Narrowboat was recommended to us as a quirky pub with good beer and that is a fair description on both counts. A good selection of beer is offered. It was busy when we called in, quite lively and atmospheric. Would definitely visit again.

I recently went on a break away with some family and friends. My auntie is gluten and dairy free and read up about this place on the Internet. When we went in to talk to the staff in the afternoon, they said the would cater for her so we booked a big table. When we got their we were given... More
