Just what a pub should be

We were a party of 8 on a mid week evening. Tasty unpretentious pub grub and an excellent selection of beers. Friendly service in traditional surroundings.

I attended "The Narrows" (The Narras as it's pronounced on the local longboating scene) and hey, once you get your head around the fact it's neither narrow nor a boat (both a relief in my opinion for I get greengilled at the slightest shift of the horizon and I'm quite uncommonly claustrophobic - it took all of my niece's cajoles/cojones... We went in for lunch, and it was not that busy, which sometimes isn't a great sign! However, that was not at all the case! I had the pulled pork and my fiance had the pork pie and both of us were extremely pleased with our meal. The service was a little slow, especially since it wasn't that busy, but... More

Had lunch here today because we'd been told it was dog friendly and what a hidden gem. It's up a lane so you could easily miss it, but what a find, we'll definitely return next time we visit Skipton. One of our party is a vegetarian and there was plenty of choice on the specials board, and a good varied... More

OK so this place looks a little bit shabby inside but others would say "tradiitonal" or "chic" If its top class fancy decoration you want its not for you but if you like a good old fashioned British pub with good ale and good grub look no further. There is a good choice of hand pulled real ales to choose... More

Called in for lunch, we had steak pie, nice and chips amazing. Veg, obviously pre frozen listed as roasted did not seem to be and not very nice. Boar burger was served On a granary roll? This was WRONG, burgers belong on a brioche or sesame roll. It just broke up and when mentioned to staff was told blame the... More

I was visiting Skipton with friends and family. We happened by chance to see the narrowboat pub, they accommodated a party of nine at very short notice, the only downside was they would only give us the lunch menu rather than the night time menu even though it was 8 PM. Conversely though the food was amazing, and the service... More
