Great meal. Shame about the chips!

We ate here with friends on Friday night. Great service and great food apart from the chips, which were soft as if they'd been standing around for hours. Happy to recommend.

Just came away after eating snacky lunch with three friends. We all had their starter of pretty mushrooms in a creamy sauce and brioche. Came served in a small frying pan, with vege crisps on top - just delicious and I'll certainly be having that again! Good coffee but really expensive tonic water at £2.50. For such a staple it... Never go anywhere else. Best food ever, standard menu with additions changing every week plus specials. All fresh and cooked to perfection, never had cause to complain. Nice atmosphere, good service from friendly staff. Spent numerous Christmas Day Lunches here, nice touch with names on tables. Would definitely recommend and I'm fussy !!

Four of us ate here tonight for my birthday, had drinks and looked at the menu outside, then moved in to order and sit at our table. Young guy behind the bar was great, had a laugh as we ordered. I wish more bar / restaurant staff were like him, so many are just no fun and boring!! If it... More

Visited this restaurant with family to celebrate a 70th birthday. We visited this venue beforehand to choose the table we wanted and check it was ok to bring the birthday cake down earlier in the day. Which of course was ok with this restaurant, they were very accommodating. The venue was very welcoming, warm & friendly atmosphere but very professional... More

The Red Lion is definitely worth a visit. It is a bit more pricey than other pub/restaurants around the Welwyn area but you get what you pay for! The food is of high quality and is beautifully presented for you. We visited on a Thursday afternoon around 2pm for lunch. I am a vegetarian and felt that there was a... More

We nipped in to the Red Lion last night for a quick bite to eat. It was around 8.30 and the place was relatively quiet. We found the staff attentive but not " in your face". The food was very good and not what I would call "expensive ". We will be going back.

We came as a family of 5 + a baby, for a weekday celebration lunch – overall good food, adequate if not brilliant service. We were greeted and seated quickly, with a high chair brought over without being requested – after this the service was a little lackadaisical though. The staff were lovely, not sure if they were understaffed, but... More
