Sunday lunch get together with friends

Met with friends for Sunday lunch (6 of us altogether). Three ordered pork roast, one beef and two lamb. They all looked delicious but one of my friends and myself who both had the lamb, had trouble cutting the meat and even more trouble eating it as it was very tough and gristly. I mentioned it to... read more

The meat we had with our roast dinners was of poor quality and quantity. The vegetables were dry and tasteless and the Yorkshire puddings were over-cooked and crunchy. We complained about the lamb and were told that there was a problem with the supplier and seemed as if others had made the same complaint. If this was the case then... More

Sorry about the title but trip advisor offers average or very good, this was better than average but not very good. So, on arrival we waited longer than expected to be met at the entrance [one waitress was looking out of the window waving to friends]. We had a nice table, service was good once we got past ordering drinks... More

A group of us went for lunch and it was delicious. The pub was so cosy with the fire and very homely. Everything was done efficiently and punctual. Our waitress Chloe was more than helpful and gave us fab service. She had a lot of knowledge about the menu and drinks. We had a great time and look forward to... More

We visited for the first time after a recommendation. The best Sunday roast we have had in a long time. The service was excellent served by a well mannered young man who was so polite and attentive I think his name was Kenny he deserves a mention as it was service with a smile. We will be going back definetely... More

After a busy day we were heading home looking for a nice roast. After trying 2 other pubs who were both full we came across the red lion. I was impressed with the roast dinners and thoroughly enjoyed trio of roast which I had. It was a very good portion. Only downside was there was no room for desert. I... More

Well presented country pub with friendly staff. We met with friends for a light lunch and a drink and were initially pleased with what we found. Unfortunately the "snack" menu was quite limited, I suspect they are more set up for "meals". Food was fresh, well presented and tasty. Particularly recommend the butternut squash fries. Nice pint of London Pride... More

I came here to celebrate my retirement with close fiends and family. Sadly one relative has a major illness so decisions on her being with me were all last minute. With Xmas bookings very busy, Sharon kindly held space in the hope my sister could make it which was very much appreciated. Unfortunately she didn't feel up to dinner but... More
