Slow service but friendly staff

We visited Ask for a meal on Bank Holiday Sunday evening, without pre-booking. The staff member who greeted us was very friendly and squeezed us in with minimal fuss. He did warn that there was a large birthday party booked in (even showed us the equally large cake!) but I was disappointed by the... read more

We go here every now and then for a meal, it's always good. Last night was no different. Sometimes they are under staffed but always friendly, polite and as attentive as they can be when busy, I have had far worse service in far fancier restaurants! The food is of a good standard, tasty, does what it says on the... More

This is an ideal restaurant for a pre-theater meal, particularly being so conveniently placed for the Hall for Cornwall, the food is tasty well cooked and plentiful, the staff are efficient and very pleasant, especially if you make them aware that you have a theater deadline, they will see that you have your meal swiftly, but not so rushed that... Had a fantastic lunch visit to this branch of ASK Italian a few days ago with my 95yr old grandmother and my parents. Greeted by a really friendly girl, and had a nice circular table for 4. Great food- my mum particularly enjoyed the sea bass, and my grandmother enjoyed the prawns starter as her main course with a small... More

I visited this restaurant with my brother on Wednesday this week. It was incredibly busy for week night (not always a bad thing!) but terribly understaffed. Despite booking well in advance we had a 40min wait for food and found the waitresses rushed and rather rude. The one who greeted us couldn't manage a smile! The Italian menu is well-balanced... They looked severely understaffed so tried, but food took over an hour and one of the courses needed to be returned. Everyone had finished before it returned! It also took 20 minutes for a glass of water for one of the children... Very unusual, but with the competition we won't be coming back to the Truro branch.

We have eaten quite regularly at Ask, but tonight's experience will make us think twice before booking again. The prosecco was completely flat, our pizzas were cold before we even started them (I could see them sat on the side waiting to be picked up by one of the waitresses long before any of them went over to get them),... Visited this place during a week long stay in Cornwall. Upon arrival we were ignored for a good few minutes despite several members of staff walking straight by us. Finally, the manager (we discovered this later) approached us and mumbled something about a reservation. The clipboard was consulted followed by another mumble of 'follow me'. After being seated we asked... More
