Very disappointing!

We went today for Sunday lunch and it was extremely disappointing. We were a group of 5 adults and 3 children, who all had Sunday dinners. The problems included: under cooked vegetables; near raw potatoes; flaccid unappetising 'crackling'; very small portions of meat; cold 'Hot puddings' and cold... read more

We tried to come here one evening but it was heaving so we couldn't get a table. I was a bit surprised as we'd not eaten here before but we realised it was a pub with great food so we decided to come back for lunch. We had a nice lunch and the food was very good but be sure... More

We had a table for eight booked. Why was service so slow? "We're very busy". Should we have booked two fours? The food, when it arrived, was good. I ordered a meal with a side of salad but it came with chips. One of our party fell through the floor having to pay more than eight pounds for a lager... More

We visited The Green Man for Sunday lunch- we'd never been before but had been given recommendations by lots of friends. Our party was made up of 5 adults & a baby. We had a great table near the open fire with plenty of room for the pushchair. We had a couple of sharing platters to start- lovely selection of... More

We went to the Green Man for a family Christmas lunch (on December 27th). The food was very nice but we waited way too long for our drinks and then our meal. We thought about having dessert but we were too afraid we'd stay there for another hour or more, so we left without having any...maybe it's better to go... More

My family and I came to The Green Man last year at the beginning of Dec and had a fab meal with a great atmosphere and the decorations made you feel you were in Santa's grotto, imagine our disappointment then, to find on our latest booking, hardly any decorations, no atmosphere whatsover and very poor food and also if you... On Saturday 20 December 14. My husband and I went with our friend to The Green Man in Middleton. I had left the booking of this meal until late and Jackie & Emma bless them managed to fit us in 'The Snug' as the restaurant was fully booked. We come here on a regular basis and know Jackie and the... More

I wish I would have read some of these reviews prior to going to The Green Man. I booked there for a birthday meal for a party of 9. We had a table booked for 8:00 p.m. We eventually sat down to order at 8:50 p.m. We did complain so we had a round of drinks free of charge which... More

Re visited the Green Man last week and we weren't disapointed. I started with the very delicious Black pudding & potato cake which was topped with a poached egg and hollendase absolutely devine. Main course was the prawn linguine very delicate and tasty. Service was attentative & friendly. Great atmosphere, would definitely recommend you give it a try.

Party of twelve, turned up on the 13th December and had the festive meal for £21. Table booked for 8.15pm and we're seated at 8.30pm. We were left to chose for 15/20 minutes - fair enough. We all ordered then waited 30 minutes for our starters not a good start. Starters were ok but nothing special. That was cleared quite... More
