Lovely food and good service

We've visited here twice now, the first time we we're sat with friends in the bar area and initially were just meeting for a drink and then decided to eat, the second time we went as a couple and pre booked and sat in the restaurant. Both times we've visited we've had lovely food, and the staff... read more

four of us drove out to dine, celebrating a friends birthday. We had booked by phone but somehow this was not recorded. However we were swift found a nice table in the main part of the restaurant. The menu is extensive with dishes to suit all palates. One of us is vegetarian and two are diabetic. The service was attentive... More

Six of us, three couples, met for lunch. We only get together about once a year and the Bell did not disappoint us. The service was attentive and all the food was very good and quite reasonable prices. After lunch we moved to a table in the garden and had tea and coffee. Everyone was helpful and accommodating, we were... More

This is local for us so have been several times. My last visit at Christmas (previously reviewed here) was disappointing - lack of some food and the service was not the best but I often find at that time of year it is the same story wherever you go. This visit was a last minute decision and the food and... More

Been a few times recently and had some good food. 3 course lunch for £15 seemed great value. Sami, our waitress, was spot on and really helpful. Chilli Chicken was just enough for lunch for my daughter, I had some rather large fish cakes which were equally nice. For those who like crumbles, the Apple and Blackcurrant crumble with custard... Visited The Bell with a friend for a lunchtime meal. Sami, our Waitress was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. Have been many times before and have always enjoyed the food, but this time was so disappointing. My friend had the Sweet Chilli Chicken, which was tiny, looked totally unappetizing, overcooked and dry, and I had the Seafood Linguini,... More

Lest anyone think some of my food reviews are more akin to a judge off Masterchef, The Bell will change your mind. Mrs P and I popped in for a totally spur of the moment lunch. Historically we've never been able to get in without a booking - I don't know if they were quiet or have simply allowed more... More

Stayed Tuesday 28th April for one night in room 5. Booked in with a miserable man who we saw on numerous occasions and never even acknowledged us as did many other staff. One bar lady and dinning room host was lovely and chatty. Lovely breakfast well presented. Room was poor, dirty wall in bathroom opposite toilet. Radiator in desperate need... More

A great selection of food to choose from and also a specials menu. We both had the Smoked Beef Short Ribs which were quite delicious. To start we shared the rustic bread platter which came with olives and was a generous portion for £3.95. Portions were hearty and all the food was hot and fresh. Service was efficient. Beautiful apple... More

This time last year, this restaurant changed their menu which made it go really down hill. We came back here last weekend for Sunday lunch and it was much much better! I had great service and the food was much improved! Keep it up!
