We came for a family birthday lunch between Xmas and New Year. The service was beyond slow, we had to wait 45 minutes even for a drink. The food was pretty mediocre when it did finally arrive (80 minutes later), only to find that 2 of the dishes our guests ordered weren't even cooked through properly, presenting a health hazard.... My son-in- law booked Sunday lunch here for four of us. It was my first visit and I liked the surroundings and look of the pub. I enjoyed the chilean merlot and my family seemed to enjoy their food, but my husband and I both had the traditional roasts. My roast rib was not good and it was dry and... More

Find the meals here very hit and miss. Like the fact there is a new seating area inside the door if you just visit for a drink

Avoid the Ribeye Steak. £21 for the thinnest sliced piece of steak (7 or 8mm - no exaggeration ) that I've ever eaten and 6 (yes six) chunky chips (what with them being chunky, it's OK to give a childs portion you see!). The roasts are better value, but by tea time when we ate the yorkshire puds and stuffing... More

Haven't visited this restaurant for 5 or so years as couldn't stand the spoon in jar and order at bar system. What a pleasant surprise I had, a ladies evening out celebrating Christmas with friends. Waitress was superb and food delicious. No spoons, no wandering to bar and delicious food. I'll be back very, very soon

I was going to give this B&B a better review but circumstances dictated otherwise. We had 4 rooms and all very different. The inn is very pretty, rooms are spacious and fairly well appointed. However, some of the beds were very uncomfortable; the springs were evident during the night, something that can't be fixed with a report to staff!!! The... More

We group of friends celebrated New Year together with a meal at The Bell and I must report that, with a good selection of meals, the food was excellent. I had smoked salmon with capers for a starter and followed this with a beef wellington that was so tender. The Chilean Merlot was good and not overpriced and we all... More

I don't know where to start! I had the best New Year at The Bell. It was a fabulous evening. Gorgeous 4 course meal reasonably priced at £45 - the food was the best I have had in years, and the service was great! I booked this on the 29th so fairly short notice and it was still brilliant. And... More

We went with the family yesterday and between the 8 of us, 3 of the meals were so small that we went home hungry. My meal was the lamb cutlets which were, no joke, a total of 4 square inches of meat for £16.95! Having complained we got a couple of chip sides discounted (which we had ordered for the... More

We have been here a number of times over the years and thoroughly enjoyed it so came with a family group of 8 just after Christmas. It had been a very cold day and frosty evening and we were sat at the end of the room near the patio doors and all felt a little chilly - no heating near... More
