Loved munching right on the beach, the breeze was just right. Plenty of open air seating. The room was attractively decorated for a large family reunion.

Visited "Face a New York" brasserie at la jabotiere, had booked a table in advance and were warmly welcomed and conducted to our table which overlooked the beach, the surf club and the surfers. Had a great meal accompanied by a very good local wine. The best meal I have had in many years of visiting and eating in Royan.... More

So we read Trip Advisor and several other review sites and saw it was a bit of a mixed bag. We turned up on a Saturday night having reserved 30 minutes before, it was packed, but unlike most French restaurants, the tables were spaced apart and although we were two we were given a table for four in a little... We had an excellent lunch from the menu du marche and this was great value. We sat outside on the terrace which id on the sand, you couldn't be nearer the sea, Unfortunately the Casino does block some of the view. More pricy in the evening and a la carte, The staff were charming .Best loos in FRance !

We were recommended this restaurant and told that we would not be disappointed. How right it was! We went for lunch and being a week day we could have the lunchtime menu priced at €21. It was just fabulous. The rillettes of pork and duck with a fruity chutney were delicious and our dos de maigre cooked to perfection. Everything... More

Had lunch with friends one Sunday in October. Three of us had the Menu Degustation - posh name for weekend fixed price - and one ate a la carte. My scallop - yes, there was just 1! - was overcooked and overpowered by its woody mushroom sauce. The monkfish was average but the quail dish was pretty good. My partner... More

We had a memorable family meal here with a table on the terrace just one step from the beach. From the moment we arrived, the owner greeted us warmly and told us about the fish of the day. Throughout the meal we were very well looked after and every dish was cooked to absolute perfection. Without a doubt we will... More

Incredible location , stunning food , beautiful restaurant. I have had a holiday home in the area for 10 years and this is the best meal that I have ever enjoyed in Royan , it just beats Le Petit Bouchon which is very good and whilst the food is as good perhaps overall this is a little bit more special.

Well i have been coming to pontailliac all my life(47 years) and have known this restaurant all that time, however the new owners have breathed new life into it, now transformed into a modern, smart, elegant restaurant truely beautiful. A rare thing in France is that the toilets are out of this world every person on the table mentioned them.... More

I have to say that I really don't understand how the French review could be terrible .... I know about good food and this is exceptional value for money at lunch time - it's the attention to detail on the plate that sets this restaurant apart from a lot. Ignore the ban comments this place is great.... Shame it's 2... More
