A lovely pub/restaurant with an extensive menu. Food delicious and a good local atmosphere. Recommended but don't just turn up on the off chance. They are not open every day. When we booked, they were not open on Mondays or Tuesdays.

Lunch of fillet steak pie...ish. Floating pastry lid, but it did have a bottom. The flavour was delicious & the accompanying chips were amazing! It would have been nice to have had just one vegetable. The blip was they didn't take credit/debit cards. I'm not sure if it was just this particular day as the lights were going on &... More

Had dinner here with my wife. Menu provides good choices although I didn't spot any lamb or pork. Plenty of fish dishes however. Mushroom soup was good and not too creamy. Thai fish cakes were thin but tasty and spicy. The cod was well presented and very good. The duck had probably been cooked too quickly as it was a... More

Had a lovely treat for Mothers day, I was taken the to Black Bear Inn near Usk. Lovely old traditional inn, and the food was fabulous. Home cooked roast dinner and the sweet was to die for!! Best cheesecake I have tasted. I would highly recommend.

I called into the black bear with family and friends I was welcomed by very friendly staff who's service was excellent. The food was of a standard that would of been cooked in a 5 star restaurant, what made it for me was the attention to detail for instance, I was asked if I would prefer a corner table as... More

I was recommended by a friend. Decided to take my mother in law this Sunday for Mother's day. What a pleasant surprise! The food was out of this world. Homecooked and traditional. A family run pub with exceptional customer service. The quality of the food was out of this world. Ten out of ten for the staff, the service and... More

Just back from a charming Mother's Day lunch. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table where I enjoyed smoked salmon with prawns as a starter, followed by roast beef and all the trimmings - a good sized portion and beautifully cooked. I finished with a creme brulee. My partner started with chicken liver pate, followed that with the... More

We arrived just at the end of a 6 nations rugby game (Eng vs Ireland) so when we saw the bar was full of rugby lads and the bar staff all youngsters our hearts sank a little. Oh gees, how wrong we were! The staff was all friendly and charming. And as 'foreigners' we were made to very welcome. The... More

Its such a shame to read the mixed reviews about this lovely village inn. I lived down the road from this inn for the first 18 years of my life, and have very fond memories of it ,all the wonderful food that was served here, and all the fun nights we had all the locals coming to together for a...
