Excellent bistro pub food combined with friendly and efficient service

Ate here on a Saturday lunchtime in June as a family group and as it was a nice day, we sat on the terrace at the back of the pub. Very pleasant surroundings and informal but friendly and efficient service. I had a trio of home made sausages with mash and the other four members of the party had... read more

We loved our dinner here. The staff were friendly, funny and professional, dealing with good grace with some tricky customers on an adjoining table to us. The food was top-notch and there were some interesting wines available, including a Marc de Gewürztraminer digestif that I'd never seen anywhere else before, so felt compelled to try. A delicious way to round... More

I had lunch with a friend in this delightful pub tucked away in the picturesque village of Kirtlington. This was my first visit. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The meal was absolutely fine with nothing to complain about. I'd recommend it without hesitation. It was surprising that it wasn't busier.

Had lunch here with friends, food was outstanding. It's a bit dull inside but worth it for the food. Barman was presumably very new and nervous but was helpful. Food service staff great.

Found this pub in the Good Food Guide (it's never let us down!). A sunny day, it was lovely to dine outside. Had the most incredible Crab - best we've had anywhere! The rest of our meal was excellent too. We'll definitely return to the Oxford Arms

We were a group of 4, we had a lovely meal, the food was excellent especially the chicken dish which tasted delicious, really moist. This was a dish from the special list.

Attractive pub with a nice atmosphere and with locals at the bar (all tables bar one seem to be restaurant tables). I ordered tarragon chicken with dauphinoise potatoes as I can never resist them. However, what turned up was absolutely not dauphinoise. No cream, no luxurious texture. Was more like boulangere potatoes. We complained as the potatoes were also slightly... More

I thought I'd revisit this restaurant for a romantic birthday lunch, after several years away. The ambience, service, and of course the food, was second to none. My venison burger wasn't on the menu today, but was replaced by an awesome lamb burger. This place has a lovely feel and you are made to feel very welcome and all your... More

We stopped quiete by chance for a late lunch in this delightful place, after having almost lost hope for a decent lunch having escaped from an awful pub just 30min before! The staff was very helpful and allowed us to have a meal despite our late arrival. We tried the venison burger and the pork belly roast which were very... More

8 of us with varied orders from a good menu all enjoyed our meals in pleasant surroundings with efficient, pleasant staff, having enjoyed good beer before that from a good selection. Maybe a little expensive, but that did not detract from a good experience. We would certainly return.
