Good fish and chips

This was a nice stop for lunch after the walk from Fort William and before taking a bus back in time for the afternoon Jacobite Train. Service was not quick despite few other visitors but the setting and food are nice.

Stayed for two nights and although rated 4 stars the place definitely doesn't live up to it. The restaurant is used for functions so it's bistro dining. Worst mussels ever, and they were so undercooked we had to send back. The staff frequently get orders to wrong tables and the general organisation is a shambles. That said the staff are... More

Lovely situation, cheerful but rather unfocused customer service. Food, the reason we were there, was uninspired and bog standard and expensive. Hope this can be improved on. Cold chips, food didn't all arrive at once and had to ask for some of our order which had been forgotten.

We had the misfortune of dining while there was a big wedding reception - the wait staff and kitchen were clearly overwhelmed. Dinner took forever and drinks even longer. Maybe if you call ahead to see if there's a conflict you'll have better luck. Our B&B had a voucher for 10% off - thank goodness.

Here we were by the Scottish waters and the filet of salmon I ordered was limp, tasteless and about as big as my little finger. Oh! And it was served on a a few greasy potatoes which I immediately put in a napkin to give to my dogs. PLUS..the wines were ridiculously expensive and the service was slower than slow.... More

Neptune's Staircase is a beautiful place, and The Moorings commands a dominating position at the start of the flight of locks. The clean and contemporary exterior promised great things! Having ordered a marinated Cajun chicken sandwich, a cheese and chutney sandwich, two portions of chips and hot drinks, we didn't think we were asking for the impossible. Even with a... More

The food here will wow and inspire your taste buds. Don't leave without capping your meal off with a shot of Dalwhinnie on the rocks (a pleasant suggestion by out waiter). Thanks ;-)

Food very average. Pate had no flavour and macaroni cheese tasted sweet and we were unable to eat it. Garlic bread still frozen. Disappointing.

Visited here twice for a lunch and an evening meal. Staff were attentive and busy. Our meals were fine but I could have wished for a slightly more generous portion of chicken breast. Overall we enjoyed our meals and would go back again.

To be fair the food was pretty standard - Fort William isn't the place to visit if you like good food. However, this isn't the place to visit if you want an atmosphere or indeed don't want to watch your will to live walk out of the door. We were sitting in the function room due to renovation works taking... More
