Good deal and quick service

It was a slack Thursday lunchtime. Thursday is grill day - £6.49 for a 5oz rump steak with chips (or other potatoes) and onions / tomato / mushroom and a drink (OK red wine) with bigger steaks at a price. Served within a few minutes, good chunk of meat - I asked for medium rare and I think the... read more

Good value , good food and welcoming staff. I visit this pub monthly for informal meetings with old colleagues. The menu is varied the portions are large and the offers like 2 for 1 are great .

I never usually rate restaurants (unless they are really bad or in this case very good) We stop off after a trek around dalamere forest and is a great location for that. The prices are unbelievably cheap. At first we thought if was cheap it would be OK. However the food was exceptional, very course we had was fresh, and... More

We attended for an annual family get together, and wish we'd seen the reviews before booking. The service is non-existent. Our table was a larger party of around 15 that had booked and pre-ordered. There was an average wait of around 30-40 minutes between each course, with dishes coming out so slowly the first person had finished eating by the... More

My husband and I went to the hollow Tree (today) for Christmas Eve lunch to meet our children, husbands and 3 grandchildren it was a half way stop for us all to swap Xmas presents and get together for an early meal. We have one 3year old and two 1 year olds. The staff were lovely... More

Entered to a warm welcome and courteous service from the bar. The starters were extensive with our party of 10 having 5 different starters and all were delighted, my starter was parsnip soup and was gorgeous. My main meal was a delicate dish of ample proportions of salmon, succulent to the taste buds and a joy to savour. My sweet... More

I emailed this pub straight after our meal as our experience was awful. They clearly couldn't care less. The food was just warm - service was awful too. I know this place is 2 for 1 and I don't expect fine dining - but I do expect basic standards.

The North West Region of the Riding for the Disabled Association held our Pre-Christmas celebration meeting and 14 of us had a great meal. The service was attentive and Matt and his team were fantastic and did everything to ensure we had a really enjoyable time. Thank you.
