If you like charming and great food this is the place to go. The food is fresh, inspired, beautifully presented. The wait staff is attentive without being intrusive. The Inn is charming and romantic. We are going back this week for dinner. Can't wait!

Thoroughly enjoyed our second visit to the Ballard Inn. I had oysters tempura foran appetizer and duck breast entree. Oysters were perfectly prepared and accented with greens and herbs to make it absolutely delicious. Duck breast was tender and tasty. Service is perfect and atmosphere is comfortably antique but perfect here. Highly recommend for any occasion. Dining room is small,... More

This was our first visit to the Ballard Inn Restaurant. We have lived just 10 minutes away for over 10 years and finally went to the restaurant during the Santa Ynez valley Restaurant week event. What a beautiful property and a very quaint dining room. The food and service were fantastic and we are so thankful for restaurant week to... More

Had an excellent dinner here. We all agree the food, service and ambience was excellent. The dining room is small, probably seats no more than 30, and the evening we were there they were quite busy and it was a Wednesday night. While there were really only two gals serving the room there was no issue, and the food was... More

I set up the reservation online for my anniversary and expecting a new child. A table was available upon arrival. Wait staff was very nice and knowledgeable. My wine discussion was great and very informative. My wife ordered beef tenderloin and had a conversation about needing it cooked well since she was pregnant. She declined the duck because the server... More

Every time we eat at the Ballard Inn restaurant we marvel at the outstanding food, service, and ambience. We plan our trips to stopover in Solvang/Ballard area in order to have dinner there. This week the Black Cod entree was one of the best seafood dishes we have ever had--with the asian complex flavors it was simply delicious. The hamachi... More

Service could use some improvement, but I guess that's probably the challenge around here. The food is pretty good. I would certainly come here instead of The Brother's nonsense Restaurant. The flavors are bold, fairly confident. I would consider it one of this valley's best spots.

Dining room a bit noisy and could use some decorating style although the building has loads of charm but the food, wine and service were excellent...on a par with any fine restaurant.

Just order the Kurobuta Pork Belly appetizer, the Pan Seared Local Black Cod for dinner, and the cheese course for dessert. Even if you're the type who thinks these particular dishes wouldn't be to your liking, because I didn't. And oh was I wrong. Fabuleux.

We stayed at the Ballard Inn (subject of another review) and managed to get a reservation for Sunday night(close Monday and Tuesday). The food was great. I had fish (crispy skinned white Seabass) that was great. My wife had the pork chop (special of the day). Everything was perfectly cooked and presented. The service was great. Wonderful selection of local... More
