Authentic and very enjoyable

The chef and many of the staff are actually Japanese. The quality is very high and the food is delicious. We paid a reasonable amount MYR240 for two people, including drinks and dessert. The seafood was quite fresh. We would love to go back again during our next Langkawi trip.

As far as Japanese restaurants go, this one is quite decent. I love the food - had Salmon Shioyaki and Salmon Sashimi. Simply marvellous! And don't forget their homemade matcha ice cream. Yums! The waitress, Kanako, is very attentive and helpful. Appreciate her effort to explain and recommend dishes to us. The place is quite small, so if possible, make... More

Ordering is key -- I recommend any local fish. A bit pricey, but we splurged on sashimi and sea bass from their tanks. Wasabi is free; the charge is if you need more. Mostly, though, I was impressed with their service; the hostess came running after us to let us know a table had just opened up (at first there... More

Second time after our last visit when on holiday a few years ago & definitely worth the 40 min cab ride from our hotel. This restaurant is run by a Japanese family so as far as we are cocerned is very original in taste the menu is extensive & although not cheap compared to UK it is still reasonable, fab... More

The reception area is dirty, run down and desperately need major uplift. Look like a no star restaurant. The food served is okish, nothing to should about for Japanese Restaurant. The restaurant smell is not very inviting. In fact try the Japanese cuisine at Meritus Pelangi Jalan Pantai Cenang, it would easily beat Unkaizan and 10 times better. The outdoor... More

Arrived late on our first night and decided to give this a go as it's in the grounds of Ambong Ambong villas - what a great place and great food, especially there homemade ice cream as well as the shock on my g/f's face when they bring you the live seabass in a basket. Service with a smile. Please try... More

Sushi and salmon not so fresh. Insists to charge for the small plate of wasabi although we already rejected when the waitress served it with the sashimi. Need to wait for almost 30mins for a bowl of white rice cause there is no ready cooked rice to be served in this restaurant. One time visit.

One of the specials yesterday was swordfish which you could have either Tempura, Sushi or Sashimi. We had it as Sashimi and it was so fresh and tender it melted in your mouth. We also had California Roll, Deep fried Prawn Sushi and Soft shell crab Tempura. Also some fresh Udon Noodles. We also enjoyed an excellent Sake. Also the... More

I stayed at Ambong Ambong and so the restaurant was just down the hill and I had dinner thrice in the 4 nights I stayed there. The first meal was arranged as part of the yoga retreat and it is vegetarian - the stewed rice is just too yumm.. Understood later that it is not on the menu but was... More
