Wow - fantastic food, best meal in langkawi

We ate here on Christmas Eve and had a memorable meal. The food was utterly fantastic and delicious. We had blue tuna fin sashimi that melted in the mouth and the fish cooked on charcoal was perfect. To finish we had the deep fried ice cream that was so light it wasn't stodgy at all. Would... read more

The Wagyu beef appeared to have spent time in a freezer. Cooked to perfection - medium rare yet not juicy. The Tuna shashimi was fishy. Should have known. When I asked for the better cuts- toro-was told that the get whole whole fish which the butcher and all the best bits were sold out. Which must have meant that we... More

Should have tasted great as restaurant was packed, sea bass swimming in tanks but it all seemed a bit tired by the time it got to our table. Specials not that special etc. Not worth the 30 minute cab ride from the hotel

We had a good stay there. The personnel, as it seemed from our perspective, were too much kind with a lot of nods and overpleasing. The sea food was great, they serve grilled dishes with a plate heated by coal. The view is spectacular at the outside area. We had no problems with mosquitos due to available repellent, additionally they... More

We had dinner at Unkaizan towards the end of our stay on the island. The food was tasty and service was friendly, but it was very pricey compared to other places on the island and for some of the portion sizes. If you stay at Ambong (which we did), you will receive 10% off your bill and complimentary ice cream.

We booked for dinner on Christmas Eve, the restaurant was busy and it gave a pleasant environment to eat in. The food was very authentic and tasty, the staff were friendly enough, but when we asked for recommendations they didn't really listen to what we'd said. That aside, it was a delicious meal. You can sit outside and watch the... More

This restaurant is hidden in the mountain, with a great view to the sea. Architecture resembled Japanese culture, mixed with Western. They serve excellent food with wide range of choices including sashimi, beef, sushi, udon, cold noodles, dessert, alcohol and many more. Above all, it comes with high-rated service (staffs served with patience, smiles and offered guides in choosing the... More

Being one of the top two Japanese restaurants on the the island, lured by the TA reviews and located at the doorstep of our hotel made it inevitable that we dined here during our three-night getaway to Langkawi. Reservations were essential and with the assistance of our hotel, an 8:30pm seating was secured. The restaurant looks like a cottage hidden... More

Rare to a restaurant in Langkawi (not in a hotel) so dedicated to its cuisine. Aided by two fluent speaking Japanese staff at front of house, the Japanese chef/operator is known to be meticulous to his craft having cooked for the serving King of Malaysia . Pricey (depending what you order) but well worth it. My husband's favourite is the... More
