On our way to Southampton and wanted somewhere to eat and this was the next one we came across. When we were there it was quite, Saturday around 1.30. We ordered drinks, large glass red, Guinness and a pint £14.27. Food ham and chips, cesarsxsakde abd fish and chips £36.25. There was a carvers on... read more

Stopped off for lunch, menu was pretty basic. So had lunch time special. Should not have bothered, chicken was overcooked and dauphinoise potatoes were undercooked and stone cold with hardly any sauce. Won't be returning in future.

Very nice meal, excellent and helpful staff and chef. Went here for a meal with my wife and her auntie and uncle. All ordered differ mains and they arrived very quickly. Uncle asked if he could have a starter as a main course and this was accommodated with no problems whatsoever. (Whitebait. Looked very nice, very crispy, uncle really enjoyed... More

Family trip to meet for lunch, a warm welcome, clean and fresh. We booked a table as we visited on a Sunday lunchtime, I'm glad we did as it was quite full. The carvery was freshly cooked to a high standard with a choice of four meats. The vegetables were cooked well. Plenty of them too. We even had space... More

The food was decent though not especially exciting. One waitress was friendly and welcoming. The other who seemed to be in charge was surly and unhelpful to the point of rudeness. A shame. We won't be returning.

Friendly welcome and efficient service with above average food. Called in when passing clean fresh decor. Good selection of specials, menu plus carvery. Order taken at table and well presented food.

Called in to the Botany Bay Inn as B&B didn't serve an evening meal. It was recommended by the host, so I thought I'd give it a try! I have to say, I wasn't disappointed as it was a most enjoyable meal. There was a good selection of starters to choose from and from what I saw being served, looked... More

We met up here for an evening meal with four other friends. Having read previous reports we expected the worst but were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted with a very friendly welcome. The portions were generous and the food was tasty, hot and home made. It's not to die for but it was good quality pub grub. We would definitely... More

First visit since the change of ownership and refurbishment. Glad to see that they still allow dogs in the bar area. Had lunch with a work colleague and we both had the Carvery. The food was okay, except for the brussel sprouts which had a bitter taste. Slightly better than a Toby Carvery, but then more expensive.
