Lovely views

We didnt eat here, we had a few drinks in the beer garden at the back though which was lovely and had great views. We came here in June and it was a boiling hot day and left a bit sunburnt.

It must be coming up on a year now since the new management team have taken over the Black Horse, I must say they are making an excellent job of it. Being a local in Amberley, we use the Black Horse quite a bit with family and friends, and it always has a welcoming atmosphere as well as delicious food... More

Can't believe the comment earlier from the Londoner - the pub is great - food so much improved, everywhere tidied up. We have been a number of times and they deserve all good luck.

Today we walked from Stroud to the Black Horse with the dog expecting to buy lunch. Having been ignored on arrival we were then ignored for a further 15 minutes and left. Very insulting. I would not recommend it to anyone. We went to the Ram in Woodchester and were treated like ordinary customers. Great. Go there I'd say. We... More

I always appreciate reviews in any form, and I am sorry you seem to have experienced this in my pub. Yesterday was an incredibly busy day for the black horse, and we were fully booked all day. However due to our bookings we were also fully staffed and the wait time at the bar was no longer than 5-10 minutes,... More

This friendly, Cotswold pub is off the beaten track near Minchinhampton Common. It has plenty of seating in the garden with superb views across the valley to Selsley Common. However, on this cold, wintry day, we were happy to admire the view from inside while sitting next to a cosy log fire. The welcome from the young landlady was as... More

A most enjoyable dining experience. The food was very scrumptious and sustaining, This Pub/Restaurant boasts fabulous ambience and a fantastic view into the valley. Oh yes, the beer was also quite enjoyable. A very nice family experience. Highly recommended to all.

Great food at this spotlessly-clean remote pub. The locals have a treasure right on their doorstep, but you should make every effort to seek it out. It's not overly-big, but can easily accommodate 30 people and generally isn't full. The food was delicious (I recommend the steak) and the manager there is lovely.

Pleasant change to find genuine innovation on a pub menu.Great hot pie of lamb and black pudding (£12.95) and loved the red cabbage amongst the veg together with mash.My wife had Hunters Chicken (£5.95) as a child's portion and pronounced the dish delicious. Drinks were Stroud brewery Tom Long (£3.60) which was bright and clear, and a 125ml Pinot Grigio (£3.65).Many... More

Our first visit since the ownership changed; very impressed with everything. The menu was very good; I had sausages and mash (v good) and my wife had baguette (even better). A good selection of beer too, I.e. includes Stroud Brewery. The interior decoration is vastly improved, the bonus being a lovely real fire. I am informed that the Ladies loo... More

Many thanks for your kind review, we are so glad you enjoyed your visit to us. Thank you for your comments on the ladies toilets, unfortunately just after we had finished refurbishing them we had a flood so we are having some issues with the new flooring and some of the drains, rest assured we are aware of the problems...
