Me and my wife went to the Isola Bella restaurant in Visby, Sweden for New Year's dinner just the two of us. We ordered the set menu with 2 starters, main, and dessert – all Italian food. We also ordered the wine menue with wines specially picked to fit the different courses. The food was immaculate, with great wines accompanying... More

The "hand peeled shrimps" were a combination of pre-packaged shrimps and crayfish tails soaked in dill and salt. Poorly rinced and tasted terrible. Canned mushrooms. The kind of food I would make at home in case of emergency. All for price that would get you something decent around the corner. Service was unemotional but efficient. Premises impressive medieval cellar, but... More

We dinner here the evening of the 22nd and had a few orders of saltimbocca and for myself, a schnitzel and risotto plate. The ambiance was lovely with the candelabras and long stemmed roses, but it took ages for the food to come out! Beyond half an hour! Which was quite strange, considering there is not much preparation for either... More

I spent 2 weeks in Visby and ate out every day. Visby is not a good place for foodies. Food here is overpriced, boring or simply unforgivably bad. Isola Bella was just average. I was there only once for lunch. Buffet lunch was at the first sight reach but at the second stuffed with haevy pasta salads, cheap olives etc.... More

It's true - if it looks busy it must be good. We went during a slower time on the island when all the other restaurants were virtually empty. Yet Isola Bella was packed. And for good reason. Italian food but with clear Swedish influences. Desserts were excellent.

We ate in their outdoor seating for the first time; I have always eaten indoors before. It was a lovely evening and a nice experience. The service isn't great - trying to get attention from waitstaff once you have ordered is hard. The pizza is amazingly delicious. I have eaten pasta there as well, which was also good, but I... There is only one Italian restaurant in Visby. The others are pizzerias that also offer pastas but is not really an Italian restaurant. So if you want to have Italian food, you have only one choice. Isola Bella in the old town of Visby. Very cozy, romantic in the old town. The building must be old with its typically Gotland's... More

We went there as it looked nice and was recommended by our Hotel. From entering the door we had an unpleasant feeling. One has to wait at the door to be seated. But the Head Waitress is just completely unorganized. If you are lucky, she will take you on or otherwise send you away, to take on the next group... More

One of the few real restaurants in Visby that are open all year around. If you visit in wintertime, make sure to find a table downstairs. We had a cold draft from the entrance door in the winter. The ambiance is genuine with medieval vaults and the staff is excellent. The food is good, clearly above average, and their pizzas... More
