This restaurant is situated on the main square and serves wonderful seafood. The restaurant is small, only 24-28 seats so you need to book, but it's worth it. Food is local seafood and a few specialities. We started with the new season asparagus which was outstanding and the smoked shrimp with aioli. Both excellent. The main courses were even better. My wife's Plaice... More

First of all, this place IS open on Sunday, at least this Sunday. We had some delicious food for us last meal in Visby. The herring I had was tasty, though a bit salty for my taste. I am told that the fish soup was good as well. The place is tiny, with only 24 seats inside (I counted), but... More

Best fish and the best meal I've been eating since I visited Fäviken in Åre In Januari 2013. And between then and now there has been plenty of good restaurants and some with Michelins. Very well done Bakfickan.

This tiny restaurant is wonderful. The small size adds to the charm and the fish is so incredibly fresh. The staff was wonderful, the shrimp and local beer terrific. I still think about that meal because it was a really special experience.

One of our favorite restaurant, always very, very good, summer and winter. We have been there alone, a couple, a small group and a large group, book in advance.

I visited Bakfickan for lunch and had the fried baltic herring with spring onion butter and mashed potatoes. The taste was delicious and I am dying to go back to Visby and eat this again. Service was also very good and the atmosphere nice.

This small local restaurant prepared one of the best meals on Gotland. Cozy with limited tables means try to call ahead if you can. Specializes in fish and seafood with true gourmet presentation but with good portions. Serves their oysters on frozen rocks!
