I have to admit to having been in general rather disappointed by Creole cuisine during my recent stay in Martinique, but I am reminded of a review of lunch at The Ritz in London, written many decades ago by a professional food critic, who went there to eat "Bangers and Mash" (sausages and creamed potato), a thoroughly unsophisticated English dish... We rented a car to just be independent and we enjoy road trips. We started early in the morning and headed to the Diamond Rock. It is an island south of Fort-de-France and the main port of the Caribbean island of Martinique. It is famous because of the reflections of its sides cast during a certain time of the day.... More

The drive to Grand Riviere is not for the faint-hearted, but in this charming northern corner of Martinique Tante Arlette will satisfy your culinary needs. The staff that served us was very friendly and Tante Arlette herself came by to greet us. The appetizer, accras de titiri, were wonderful. Unfortunately, the main course (fish) was not as warm as it... More

Trying to do some kind of nouvelle cuisine créole, but the results are not in accord with the price they charge. The staff isn't really friendly neither. Dissappointed..

Arlette's daughter has certainly professionalised the marketing of the 10 room hotel and restaurant, and the service is excellent, but the rooms are very small, and the "salade du jour" we had for dinner was neither good nor sufficient.

Perhaps the best seafood in Martinique? The lobsters are as good as any and, from what the five of us tried, I doubt there is anything on the menus that is less than very good. Certainly worth a detour, if not a special journey.

After a great day touring the island, this was a great stop for our group. The meal was amazing. Portions are very generous, so be attentive to what is being ordered.

I ordered a dish with Langouste, lambi (local sea shell) and big local shrimps : that was really tasty. Service is not bad althought it is a little bit slow. Well, you are in Maritnique, on vaccation, so it is ok. The price is a little bit too high. May be distance from the main city is an explanation. Anyway,... More
