This pub was recommended to us so decided to give it a try after visting Portland Bill. Nice surroundings, inside and out with good food served in a reasonable time. Only downside was I felt it was a little expensive for "pub grub". Staff pleasant and helpful and would call again.

Just had a nice family meal on our last night in Portland. We had prawn cocktail, scallops and soup to start, scallops were particularly scrummy. Followed by Cottage Pie, Sirloin steak and the Cove Inn Tapas, all good portions and very tasty. Don't expect anything spectacular, but it is nice pub grub. We booked, but unfortunately the table was not... More

They would be more than happy if you put your cash on the bar and left without actually having to talk to you or serve you. We went over to the Cove at just after 8.30pm one evening, and although it's advertised as taking orders for food till 9pm you get a short stabbing reply of "food orders stopped at... More

We had to eat here as this was the only local place nearby who would allow dogs. When we asked we were told we could not sit in either bars only in the middle, there were two tables! I found the bar staff very abrupt and unfriendly. We ordered from a, somewhat limited menu and the food arrived very quickly,... More

The location is stunning, a view that is takes your breath away. Unlike the pub that seem to be a little bored with the job of making their guests welcome. Last orders can be as early as 8.30 p.m. and if its not on the board, don't ask for it. If you have anything with fish in it, good luck... More

Visited on a very busy summer evening, we didn't book in advance so were fairly lucky to get a table as all reviews said book in advance. Service was fairly good considering how busy they were, food was very nice, portions were good and prices were reasonable. Location was fantastic, could have sat there all evening looking at the view!

As per the previous reviewer, I really don't get why this place rates so highly and is so popular! The one redeeming feature is the location, you can't beat that, so maybe good for a drink outside. We were recommended this place by our B&B as a good place to go for dinner, and that it was about the only... More

Location is lovely, food is decent pub grub with lots of fish on the menu, portions are a good size. I didn't think it was anything flash. Toilets were dirty, age old grime-not nice and the place was not loved nor was it clean. Sadly I noticed all of this before my food arrived!!! I wouldn't go back, there are... More

You HAVE to book a table in advance - there's not a massive number of places to eat in the vicinity, and this has a top location - right on the beach, popular with locals and tourists alike. The view over Chesil Beach is gorgeous - especially at sunset. This pub was recommended to me by a friend, and we... More
