We went on a cold blustery night and the fires were lit and the place was warm and welcoming. We sat fot a drink inside the fire by the bar and warmed our toes before proceeding to the restaurant. The food was plentiful and of very good quality. Everyone was saitiated. I would highly recommend this pub.

Fantastic and traditional village pub that exudes charm and character. Food is hearty and the ale improves with every drop. Wonderful village setting and a credit to the garden of England.

If you are sick of being fobbed off with a bowl of meat with a piece of puff pastry on top masquerading as a pie then the White Hart is the place to visit. Real home made pies with tasty shortcrust pastry, wonderful suet meat puddings and a super menu all round. A lovely bar with inglenook fireplace and attentive... More

Dour if us came for Sunday Lunch. Don't bother. The lamb and beef were tough. The vegetarian dish was unimaginative and bland.

Thank you for your review. Obviously we not like to read that a customer has had a "very disappointing" experience. I have spoken to the member of my team who remembers serving you on Sunday and she confirmed that she did, as is our practice, do at table check to ask if you were happy with your meal, giving an... On our way to Great Dixter three of us stopped for lunch at the White Hart. First impressions were very favourable. A cosy old inn where we were welcomed and seated, along with prompt drinks. Here things went downhill. Specials for the day were Broccoli and Blue Cheese Soup and Steak and Ale Pie which I both ordered. My companions... More

Thank you for posting your review of your recent lunch. I do in fact remember you and as I recall, went straight to the kitchen after you had spoken to me, to get an update on your order. Satisfied that it was on it's way, I then left the kitchen, I apologise for not returning to you to convey this... More

After meeting up with an old friend and spending the entire day driving around Rye and Romney Marsh we eventually found ourselves looking for an early dinner in the Newenden area. Crossing the old bridge over the River Rother we pulled into the spacious car park of the 16th century White Hart Inn. Warmly welcomed on entering we observed the... More

We booked for lunch for 4 in the restaurant area and when we arrived we were welcomed and promptly shown to our reserved table by the window and drinks orders taken. Good Kent beers including a relatively mild one from Whitstable and a really tangy bitter brewed locally. We ordered between us steak and ale pies and steak and mushroom... More

Very good food and beer along with friendly service, comments we like to hear! We always try to offer a good range of real ale, with the classics such as Rother Valley Level Best and Harveys Best Bitter featuring alongside guest ales. We pride ourselves on our proper homemade pies so it's great to hear that they went down well... More

I liked the white hart, we went on a Wednesday early evening with friends, it was our first visit, there were lots of nooks and corners with tables, sofas etc., the garden looked lovely, sadly the evening was too cool to sit outside, the restaurant was modern and I liked all the candles dotted about on the tables and fireplaces,... Thank you for your review. A subtle refurbishment of our restaurant has given, we hope, a crisper look whilst still remaining 100% homely and true to the character of the building and the candles, we think add a warm and inviting finishing touch. Great to hear that you enjoyed the food and to let you know we regularly change the... More

Visited with friends on a Wednesday evening. Restaurant was quiet, but with a steady flow of diners. Good choice of local ale and friendly bar staff. Two of us had the Chefs Homemade Pie of the Day Pork, apple and cider which was very tasty. My wife had scampi and a friend the rib-eye steak both of which were apparently delicious.... More
