Hot or cold, the view is awesome

I came here twice. On summer with my husband and autumn with small group (14 people). If you want to enjoy the view, just take the table outside (if it's not too cold for you). It's not possible to reserve the table. So, just come and take a sit. The service was fast too. The toilet was clean... read more

It is really worth to go there. You can eat and dring. Food are not too expensive and very good. Go in the morning or up to 15hoo to have sun on the Terrasse.

With my good hiking boots on and light backpack ready to start as early as 4 in the morning, here I was finally making my trip to Aescher. It is one of the most beautiful mountain restaurants in the picturesque Alpstein mountain chain. The place is, literally, into the side of the cliff, and the view is second to none.... More

Oh dear! Having battled my vertigo all the way up to Schäfler from the Ebenalp cable car and then down again to Aescher, I sank my teeth gleefully into a Bratwurst and a plate of Rösti. Just heavenly, and precisely what I needed! The hotel/restaurant itself clings precariously to the rock face, and if you think you might be imagining... More

This "Berggasthaus" is built high on a cliff underneath an overhanging ledge. The only way up is a rather strenuous walk or the cable car to Ebenalp from whence you have to climb down through a large damp cave once inhabited by alpine bears, past a hermit's cottage, a chapel in a grotto, and finally along a narrow path plastered... We arrived to wonderful views: colorful foliage, a bit of snow, and cold wind. All the right conditions to grab a hot chocolate drink and admire the scenic landscape. The hike up towards Aescher is strenuous, that's why a cable car from Wasserauen to Ebenalp is recommended if you're short on time or stamina:)

The most best thing I have done ever! Hiked the 3 hours here and enjoyed the best food and beer along with breathtaking views. I felt like I was in heaven!

Aescher used to be run by Claudia and Benny but I believe it is now run by their son and their daughter-in-law. No matter as Benny and son have been roasting Roesti up for years! If you tell them that you are gluten free/frei, I bring a little German/French card that I put together myself and print at the UPS... More

I took a walk with my girlfriend and mother-in-law from the Ebenalp cable-car station to the top of Schäfler (with its own restaurant which, however, we didn't try) and from there along a vertigo-inducing path down to Aescher where we sampled their famous Rösti. There is a much easier direct path to the restaurant from Ebenalp, but the one we... More

We nearly didn't walk this far as my 10 year old was rather terrified of walking through the caves en route but I am so pleased that we did. It was an amazing little place with so much history. We just had a drink outside but it was lovely and full of atmosphere .... friendly waiting staff.... Worth a visit.
