Great fish in a dated interior

A fine local restaurant with good asparagus and fish. The wait staff look like they have served there for at least 40 years and thus they know their menu.

We were looking for a restaurant serving traditional Pfalzer food and took the suggestion of our concierge that this was the place to go. As I wanted to make sure we got in, I decided to walk down and book directly. My immediate thought was that it looked old fashioned and I walked out without booking. However, getting back to... Starting our two day stay in Cochem, we searched for a good restaurant in which to have, a good meal in a quiet setting. Hidden amongst the "touristy" restaurants was this gem. You are welcomed, served, and cared for by an elderly couple whose age is only a positive to the experience. Starched linen tablecloths and napkins, flowers on the... More

This restaurant is located on the second floor, with a view on the river. The other restaurants with the same vantage point seemed like tourist traps. This restaurant was a great surprise. Beautiful fish, sauces. Excellent wine and beer. Friendly service even though we do not speak German! Beautiful, candlelit environment, with excellent linens. No paper napkins here. Super reasonable... More

The owners and staff are very friendly!!!!! Food is real German food: simple, good and for little money.

After trying several restaurants and being them full we end up here. First impression: my granny place. And what does that mean: old-fashioned decoration, wonderful food, no English. The food is fresh, well done, tasty and generous in size. Very friendly owners (of my granny age too) that fulfilled my picky children (and my mom) wishes. I dont give 5... More

Ordered two different meals one was a nice change for German food, gourmet double pork medallion on toast, very tasty. The second meal was good hearty, triple pork medallion with broccoli good food. Ordered a bottle of the auslese 2011, feinherb, goebel-schleyer it was okay but really dry for an auslese. Overall good rating for this quaint business. -- --... More

high quality food and lovely wine - also good value. I ate the calves liver - excellent quantity and beautifully presented - my wife had the trout fillets, also excellent. Not a quick service, but quality takes time

Good old folks serving up well made traditional German food. Second story view over the river if you time your visit to get one of three tables by the windows.

Surrounded by the chip-and-snitzell brigade, overlooking the Mozell River, this is an old-style German restaurant filled with chattering and gossiping old-style Germans, with old-style German fish dishes and things like pork medallions with green veg and nicely sliced and roasted potatoes, cooked in the German old-style! Which means, still tasting like food. Nothing super-special, but run by a lady and... More
