My traveling comrade and I had our first meal in this region of Germany at the Brauhaus Kloster Machern. It was becoming autumn in Germany, but the sun was warm so we took advantage of the opportunity to sit outside and have a hefeweizen, a riesling and a light lunch. The location is inspiring... read more

The food is fine, it's commercial rather than gourmet but the prices do reflect that. While the grape spritz and their own-brewed beer is great... there's a but... Twice now, the outdoor table staff really seem to have better things to do with their time. Within, in contrast, the regular team are great. During our lunch we were buzzed by... More

Our first visit was a sunny day when we found the Brauhaus and decided to stop for lunch on the terrace. The waiter was very friendly, the food was great and as rain threatened the waiter invited us to finish our drinks inside. We enjoyed is so much we decide to drive 35 minutes there for dinner two days later... More

We were introduced to Kloster Machern by friends who were full of praise for the venue. Parking is limited and can need a lot of maneuvering, The buildings and grounds are well manicured and pleasant to view. The shop is touristic and overpriced. The outside dining area, on a paved terrace, is typical of Biergarten in Germany. What can be... More

We stumbled across the Bauhaus and were delighted by our find. The building itself is very imposing and the courtyard areas seemed very attractive too. The weather hadn't been warm enough for us so we chose to eat inside. The main bar and restaurant are very tastefully decorated and the seating areas are also very comfortable. We were welcomed and... More

The restaurant is run by the most unprofessional manager that I have had the utmost displeasure of encountering. He was incredibly condescending and rude to our entire party. He is the antithesis of "customer service." We didn't get to order because he made such a big deal about two people in our party that did not want to partake in... More

We have eaten here a couple different times, including a large group dinner in the private downstairs dining area. The food is traditional German fare; very tasty and filling. They brew their own beer too which was flavorful with a couple different varieties. If the weather is nice, you could easily sit outside all day long. It’s a great stop... More
