To be honest it is hard not to get a little used to all the castles but Rheinfels was worthwhile for the views and pleasant enough to get there.

We had lunch on the top floor of this fine restaurants and got a real treat of fine dining experience with a wonderful view of the Rhine River Valley right from our table. The home made Sorbet was freshly made just for us while we waited, it was worthy of every minutes we waited. The fish dishes were perfectly done,... More

We reserved a place on the terrace some months ago but were fortunate to secure on arrival the one and only secluded dining area that is built into the side of the castle wall. In a word, awesome. The views from there watching the ships below on the Rhein were incredible. The food was delicious. The staff were attentive and... More

...are the main course. The food, in comparison, is a side dish-- it is not bad, but there is nothing particularly special about it. The service was okay- the hostess was not helpful but the waitress was great. In summary, I have to emphasize that the atmosphere and view, make this place worth the visit, and if you do not... More

We visited the main restaurant at Rheinfels Castle twice for lunch. We went out of season (February) and had no trouble procuring a table with a fabulous view of the famous 'Middle Rhein World Heritage Site'. The service was excellent, fast and very friendly. We had the Romantic menu the first time and al la carte the second. The food... More

If you visit the Rheinfels Castle (which is really amazing by the way - intact ruins with a nice tour and museum) you should splurge and have lunch at the Schloss Rhienfels restaurant. It is not cheap but the view is out of this world. We took the boat from Rudeschiem to St Goar and got off with about 2-3... More

The view from the balcony is really great. The fish I had was fab. The service was insanely slow. An hour after ordering our food arrived! If you are there for the view and don't mind the wait....enjoy!

The view is amazing, but was really disappointed to find the cafe in the heart of a historic rhine castle serving a largely italian themed menu, just didn't seem quite right. They had one 'traditional' dish of castle stew (goulash) but apart from that it was pizza and spagetti. The food was OK, but just think they are missing a... More

This is a very nice, cozy restaurant, located adjacent to the Burg/gift shop. We were seated on the terrance with no problem, under an umbrella at 1:30 PM. The service was fast, but not pushy, the food was very reasonably priced (30 Euros for pasta, stew, a beer and a wine), the food was very good, and well prepared. The... More

If castles are your thing, it doesn't get much better than Rheinfels. This massive hulk was the largest fortress on the Rhine, and one can't help but be impressed by it's sheer mass. Kids will love to crawl around and explore while older members of the group can sit on the terrace and enjoy a glass of wine or beer.... More
