We do not eat wheat and it can be a challenge in many restaurants. In spite of our server speaking mostly German and our speaking mostly English, she managed to help us find dishes we could enjoy without worry. The food we had was good. I had pork medallions, broccoli, and rosti potatoes while my husband had a pork steak,... More

You are in Hameln, gotta go all the way! Great ambiance, all the "rat' themed decor and dishes you could want. You can read the whole story on the menu, and this is German Gaststaette at its most typical. Good food, generous portions and lots of options- go with the daily specials and you will be pleased. Service was German-efficient,... More

We went there looking for a traditional restaurant, and we found one. The atmosphere is quite nice. The food on the other side, was not so spectacular. We ordered Camambert for entrance, and it was in my opinion, forzen camambert from a box. Also the Veggie Schnitzel is frozen, the rest was ok. The price is not bad, but for... More

We went for a walk into the town centre, which was most enjoyable. We came across this restaurant and decided to try it. The menu was quite small but very interesting. It was an odd night as Germany were playing in the World Cup, so restaurants were quiet and it is hard to know what the atmosphere would normally be.... More

Had family over to visit and wanted a traditional German restaurant, this was perfect. Lovely decor inside. The service was fantastic and we were given the menu in English. Very friendly staff, checked that everything was ok and offered more drinks when we finished our first. Food was delicious and we were all full afterwards. I must admit it isn’t... More

You have to make a reservation for the rat-tails, it is pork. The meal is served with a small show, they fix your meal next to the table. It looks nice , it could better, much better. Not enough patatoes, a nice salade, a little bit rice. When we asked for more patatoes, we had to wait a long, long,... More

Lovely old building. Have eaten here 3 times now and the food is always good. English speaking is limited here, as in most of Hameln but we get by! Very meat orientated but I recommend the chicken and spinach one pan dish with potato rosti. Its gorgeous. Worth a visit!

This was my first experience of German food and, from what I am told, this place is very traditional. The menu is very much centered on different types of meat served with some kind of cabbage and potatoes. I went for the roast pork although what I got was what I would call roast gammon. Still, the meal was delicious... More
