An old favourite - but a bit off with us this time

We always enjoy a trip to the Gutsschanke when we are in Meersburg. When it is good weather, sitting on the terrace overlooking the lake is fantastic. In the evenings it is nice to sit inside at one of the cosy tables. The wine is good, especially the local weissherbst (a sort of rose wine... read more

This was such a quaint restaurant! A sweet lady from the town helped us to translate the menu, which we greatly appreciated. We enjoyed grilled fish and potatoes, a veggie plate, rump roast with spatzle, panna cotta, chocolate cake, cappuccino, and the local (across the street is the winery) Pinot Noir. Everything was delicious and the ambience was very nice.... More

The three of us had an outdoor lunch in the Gutschanke, overlooking the lake. The food (rizzoto, soup, carpaccio) was exactly right and ofcourse, we tasted the local wine produced by the Staatsweingut. Although the terrace was full, the service was efficient, professional and quick.

We stumbled upon this wonderful terrace restaurant quite by accident and we were so happy we did! A beautiful terrace with glorious views over the lake.It was a friday evening and very, very busy - luckily some people vacated a table and we were lucky enough to be there at that moment! We enjoyed wonderful wine ,served by an incredibly busy... More

This place is extremely popular - for good reason. Great views on the top of the hill - vineyards below, then lower Meersburg and the Lake. Perfect on a sunny day. "flammenkuchen" was great snack/light lunch - it was lighter then a pizza - thin crust with toppings. Choice between meat and vegetarian options too. Delicious and very reasonable prices.... More

Hope the restaurant owner sees this critic in English. This restaurant offered the worst service (snobbish) I ever experienced, and the reasons are below; 1. The waitress missed my complete order out, though she initially wrote down my order on paper! (She asked 3 times my order before passing the order in...) 2. No apology for forgetting an order, instead... More
