The only Soester brewery
When the Peace of Westphalia riders after the 30 year war between Munster and Osnabruck were traveling, as the half-timbered building of Renaissance beamed even from a quiet comfort. That has not changed in the last 400 years. From the old bakery next to the church has become a brewery, where the life between old oak beams and copper copper kettles shows at its best:
fresh home-brewed beer, grandma's bed, creaky
Wooden floorboards and a lot of nice people.
Where do you feel most comfortable?
The cozy bar on the ground floor, where the delicious aroma of hops and malt in the air?
Or the creaking stairs to dining groups from the good old days, each of which is different?
Perhaps in the light-flooded winter garden with space for larger groups or, weather permitting on a secluded spot outdoors?
Only when you have all tried once, you will know it - but in a sophisticated atmosphere, with many antiques and changing little extras you will discover something new anyway.

An excellent night out.

What a lovely surprise on our first night in Soest. The Brauhaus was lovely a really lovely meal but it was enormous. Could have had one meal between two. The beer was fabulous and I think they brew it themselves, Very friendly place well worth a visit.

Our friends made reservations here, two months in advance, for our visit during Christmas. We came to the restaurant while the Christmas Market was in full swing so the place was packed with people. I think because of this (understandably) service was not as good as you may have liked. That said, the food was hearty and delicious. The ambience... More

Get there for local beer and food. As a minimum, try onion soup with cheese ANS dark or wheat beer. Will be back here for sure.

Good reasonably priced food with friendly staff and excellent home brewed beer. We ate in the beer garden where a bird pooped on me, however that did not detract from the evening.

Excellent service, great food (generous portions too) and in house beer is beautiful. Make sure you book though, otherwise you may not get a table as it's very popular. A must whenever we visit Soest.

"Home Sweet Home" is the best description of what you feel at Brauhaus Zwiebel. Delicious German soul-food, big portions, friendly and well trained staff. The home made Maibock beer is amazing!

What a great find - set in a beautiful building this was a buzzy, busy restaurant. Great food, great staff, so good we went twice! If you're looking for something authentic with delicious, hearty food (the portions are enormous) and with the benefit of an on-site brewery this is the place to go. And always a must - filled with... More

We were visiting some family that lives right across the street from this place,it did not look like much, but as soon as the 6 of us sat down out in the beer garden I knew it wasn't the typical german pub. I think 4 of us had the small size schnitzels with different toppings and one had the matjes. We... More

We were looking for some good German food after a couple of poor meals elsewhere. We were not disappointed here. All the waiting staff were friendly, helpful and spoke some English. Gudrun our waitress guided us through the menu on local dishes and of course the on site brewed beers. It was a really great meal to end a two... More
