Home Sweet Home

"Home Sweet Home" is the best description of what you feel at Brauhaus Zwiebel. Delicious German soul-food, big portions, friendly and well trained staff. The home made Maibock beer is amazing!

What a great find - set in a beautiful building this was a buzzy, busy restaurant. Great food, great staff, so good we went twice! If you're looking for something authentic with delicious, hearty food (the portions are enormous) and with the benefit of an on-site brewery this is the place to go. And always a must - filled with... More

We were visiting some family that lives right across the street from this place,it did not look like much, but as soon as the 6 of us sat down out in the beer garden I knew it wasn't the typical german pub. I think 4 of us had the small size schnitzels with different toppings and one had the matjes. We... More

We were looking for some good German food after a couple of poor meals elsewhere. We were not disappointed here. All the waiting staff were friendly, helpful and spoke some English. Gudrun our waitress guided us through the menu on local dishes and of course the on site brewed beers. It was a really great meal to end a two... More

Of all the restaurants we went to in Germany I think this was one of my favourites. The service was good and our server had a great sense of humour and was comfortable talking English. The regular patrons were friendly. And the food was good. I would definitely recommend everyone visiting Soest comes here.

Brauhaus Zwiebel is the obvious place to dine in Soest, a cathedral town with a restored city center in rural Westphalia. The restaurant is housed in a half-timbered building with a dark-wooden candle-lit interior. The menu features Schnitzels and other traditional German fare. The food, in keeping with tradition, is hearty and satisfying—fabulous if you’re hungry (we were very hungry)—if... More

On a warm June day we happened to be in Soest. I used to live in Bavaria and miss their beer desperatly, so when i found out that there was a brewery in the city that has all kinds of beer i had to stop there :-). And let me tell you this: i wasn't disappointed!!! Beer is very good... More

We had a kind of family dinner with my parents here. It was really fabulous! We ordered salads as well as main dishes but the portions were so huge that we had to ask to take away the remaining food because we were able to eat only a half of them. And how delicious it was! Fantastic! Beer from the... More

Having stayed with friends in Soest I tried to repay them for their generous hosting by taking them out for a meal. They recommended the Brauhaus Zwiebel and what a wonderful choice. I must preface this review by stating that food plays a big part in my life, both cooking and eating, German cuisine is my least favourite, or it... More
