If you are going through the Rhine river valley, Oberwesel is a must see. If you are going to be in Oberwesel, the Historische Weinwirtschraft is a must stop and eat. Many folks might not realize its here, not too far from the train station and at the base of the path that leads up to the fantastic castle. The... More

We were staying nearby at the Castle Auf Schonburg and chose this place because of the good tripadvisor reviews. The staff was quite accommodating. We had just arrived after a drive from Frankfurt and an overnight plane trip from the U.S., so our son made it about half-way through the meal before hitting the wall and passing out at the... More

I've never been a massive fan of German food but I may need to revise my opinion. This is a very good restaurant. Starter of hot goats cheese, with beetroot and dressed salad was excellent. The main course was pork schnitzel with roast potatoes an salad. The schnitzel batter was obviously home-made and light and crisp, with the pork moist... More

Having travelled in Austria and Italy we drove back to UK via Germany. As it was along journey and we had never been to Germany we chose to stop in the Medieval own of Oberwesel. It was quiet from the other towns we had visited. Unfortunately part of the main high street was being retarmaced so made it looked like... More

This wonderful little restaurant is a joy for the eye as well as the palate. The setting is charming, tables are set throughout an historic home filled with interesting furnishings. You may eat in a kitchen or have your table set in a bed! The outdoor dining in the pretty garden is a lovely way to enjoy a warm summer... More

What a cozy fantastic setting for a special dinner in the sweet town of Oberwesel! My husband and I were here in September, so we are writing this late, but still remember our dinner like yesterday. It was so much fun to eat in this preserved historic old home, we ate in a bed converted to table and had the... More

My husband, my sister, and I all got different dishes and we all loved them. The wine selection was great. I noticed a little table with some children's toys when we came in, so it's probably a great place to take children.

We went to the restaurant at the recommendation of our hotel staff. We dined at several restaurants in Oberwesel and this was by far the best! It is a 5 minute walk from town square. The best way to describe it is that it is a home converted to a restaurant. We sat in a love seat in a cozy... More

My husband and I live in Frankfurt and wanted to do a 'day trip' during the Easter holiday so we looked up some places and decided to go to Oberwesel. As soon as we got off the train we walked by this place and thought it looked really cool from the outside - a little strange as the lawn in... More

This was simply a fantastic meal. One of my travel companions had wanted to eat here after walking by earlier in the day and smelling something good simply by walking by. I'm glad he did! The decor is really interesting, as the restaurant is in a restored old house, so the rooms are furnished and decorated as if they were... More
