You can feel the history

Good food and wine and an entertaining owner who told stories of her childhood while living in the Schloss Shoenburg high above the town. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. Lots of artifacts from old times. Stone walls and floors. A really cool experience.

This has become a regular haunt on our stop-over after our skiing holiday. The food (including local dishes), wine and service are always good, friendly and efficient. Very child friendly. Too late for our children to take part in in the Easter egg hunt! There is a small grass play area where the children can play while observed from the... More

Good food but wait until the chef is back to get the full array of dishes. The Herrings Salad is very good though.

Loved this cozy restaurant at the base of Castle Schoenburg. Warm and wonderful decor, delicious authentic food and great wine. We arrived late in the afternoon so had our choice if rooms and tables. Candles, colorful linens and old wooden tables set the scene. Just perfect! Will definitely eat here again whenever we're in the area.

Would recommend this restaurant, excellent food, friendly staff. We were made to feel very welcome. English was limited, but when we asked for assistance, the chef came and explained everything to us in excellent English, even the wine list.

Coming original from the Rhine region and now living in Ireland, the Weinwirtschaft ist a piece of "Heimat" which I like to visit when I'm in Germany. Situated in an old building and decorated with old furniture, it is authentic and cosy without being pretentious. The waiters and waitresses speak my dialect, which is great (of course they speak "Hochdeutsch"... More

If you are going through the Rhine river valley, Oberwesel is a must see. If you are going to be in Oberwesel, the Historische Weinwirtschraft is a must stop and eat. Many folks might not realize its here, not too far from the train station and at the base of the path that leads up to the fantastic castle. The... More

We were staying nearby at the Castle Auf Schonburg and chose this place because of the good tripadvisor reviews. The staff was quite accommodating. We had just arrived after a drive from Frankfurt and an overnight plane trip from the U.S., so our son made it about half-way through the meal before hitting the wall and passing out at the... More

I've never been a massive fan of German food but I may need to revise my opinion. This is a very good restaurant. Starter of hot goats cheese, with beetroot and dressed salad was excellent. The main course was pork schnitzel with roast potatoes an salad. The schnitzel batter was obviously home-made and light and crisp, with the pork moist... More
