Authentic atmosphere-feel, sit with the locals and enjoy really good German food -"get to the point" waitresses. Trout was excellent, juicy pork meat with sides of sauerkraut & boiled potatos, the apple dessert (local speciality) was fantastic - crispy baked slices - YUM. Very affordable for the 4 of us, 3 course dinner with a round of smoked beer & local white wine with main course @ Euro 22/pp.

It was busy and noisy. Outside is nice, inside is typical old wooden pub. Food is unhealthy good and the local beer is very good. But it was too full, and busy had to seat close to unknown people in the same table. Come here is you really want Bavarian food and are in a good extrovert mood.

Our family loves this restaurant. If you happen to be visiting between late April and early June take the opportunity to order the white asparagus dishes. The white asparagus soup is amazing and a must try. The traditional jagerschnitzel is fantastic and some of the best you will find in Germany. The potato soup is very good and we would... More

I highly recommend this restaurant. The waiter was very friendly to us. I ordered Schäuferla which is Bamberg specialty and was good. The portion was so large that I could not finish it all. I will go there again I visit this city again. The best service I have ever seen in Germany since I stayed here.

I ordered the smoky beer and the onion, it's so good and I love it. The service is kind and nice. And also easy to find.

we reached bamberg quite late at noon, after a morning trip to another city, so by the time we entered the restaurant we were starving. it was wise of us to trust the positive reviews we read in trip advisor, head directly to this restaurant and order the dish called 'lumberjack' without even asking what it actually contains. kachelofen serves... Kachelofen is extremely popular and we can see why! We were lucky to get a table early one evening and we were not disappointed. We ordered Haxe and Rumpsteak and chicken snacks for the kids. All portions were very generous and the Haxe melted in the mouth. The Rumpsteak was huge, cooked perfectly and tasted divine and the bratkartoffeln served... More

I always get the Farmer's plate and share it. So delicious! Thick bacon, crispy onion, horseradish, just amazing. Don't forget to try the Keller bier.
