Authentic atmosphere-feel, sit with the locals and enjoy really good German food -"get to the point" waitresses. Trout was excellent, juicy pork meat with sides of sauerkraut & boiled potatos, the apple dessert (local speciality) was fantastic - crispy baked slices - YUM. Very affordable for the 4 of us, 3 course dinner with a round of smoked beer & local white wine with main course @ Euro 22/pp.

Must Go!

Some of the best food in Bamberg. Amazing atmosphere and friendly service but make a reservation cuz seating is very limited and we got lucky. Try the lumberjack and the smoke beer.

When you are in Bamberg, you have to visit the typical Franconian pub with Franconian cuisine and Rauchbier. Yes, the food /Schäuferla und Knustenbraten/ was good, potato soup really bad, Wirsing /savoy/ is not my favorite side dish, and Rauchbier I drank the first and last. But pub is tourist attraction, food is tasty and the staff pleasant. Pub at... More

Had lunch here just after arriving in Bamberg and was very impressed. Tried the smoke beer (an acquired taste I think!) and my wife and I shared the mixed sausage and vegetable platter for two. A huge meal that we enjoyed, but we had no chance of finishing as it was so large. Friendly service and fitted us in with... More

Very nice place. You can test all the culinary specialties of the area. Euro personally have tested the sausage plate. It was good and great. I also had a beer ... very good specific area.

The place is very crowded and noisy, so coming here do not seek for a quiet lunch/dinner - this is not a negative comment but just a warning for you. The menu includes a lot of local dishes. You should definitely try sausages and smoked beer (Rauchbier).

Have gone here four or five times now. The food is generally very good. In fact it was our favorite place in Bamberg the first two visits. The service however the last two times has been downright rude. Our German is not very good but we make the effort and the last time we went, the waiter tried to rip... More

We arrived this restaurant to have lunch. The deal was tremendous. The waiter almost fired us out because needed the table for a group of four people (we were two). She gave us the bill and invited to go out. We leaved the restaurant to not comeback ever. Furthermore, she forgot the first dish (a soup). A place to bet... More

The restaurant which is located in the heart of the old town serves the dishes which are typical for many of its neighbors. This is not a bad thing if you like the simple but tasty fare that is popular in this part of Germany. We had a Bierhaxe (pork knuckle in beer sauce) and a Krustenbraten (slice of roasted... More

The service is nice, the food is great and the beer is very good. Nearby Ambrausianum and Schlenkerla. So, you must go there to taste another good german beer.

Visited Bamberg for the day (lovely city) and just had to try one of the speciality local beers - smoked beer. Loved it but imagine it would be a bit of an acquired taste. Did not try the food but would definitely revisit as we plan to return to Bamberg at some point next year.
