Cuisines: German

Description: Authentic atmosphere-feel, sit with the locals and enjoy really good German food -"get to the point" waitresses. Trout was excellent, juicy pork meat with sides of sauerkraut & boiled potatos, the apple dessert (local speciality) was fantastic - crispy baked slices - YUM. Very affordable for the 4 of us, 3 course dinner with a round of smoked beer & local white wine with main course @ Euro 22/pp.

Had the roast pork, liver dumpling, liverwurst and fried potatoes shared it with my daughter as neither of us was particularly hungry. Ordered this plate as I wanted to taste the liver which I really enjoyed my daughter who does not like liver said the wurst was OK believe me that is an accolade. Both enjoyed the pork and potatoes.... More

Waiter made us very welcome and helped us translate the menu. We had steak which must have been stewed for hours as it was so soft in a tasty gravy and came with cooked pickled red cabbage and a perfect massive dumpling. Delicious! The smoky beer Rauchbier was amazing. Everyone was friendly on the long tables. Food and beer here... More

We were met by very friendly waitress. They made us feel very comfortable. Great decor. Tried the smoke beer and had lumberjack steak. Wow. It was such a huge platter. We wished we had split it. Definite recommendation for German meal.

We had a fabulous meal here. The beer and food were both excellent and I can indeed recommend the pork shoulder. The lumberjack steak also came recommended and although we did not have this, the table next to us did. They highly recommended it also. Fabulous!

Had a wonderful meal and Rauchbier at this outside restaurant. My wife and I had the typical German meal with sauerkraut, sausages and potatoes. The beer was cold and in a large stein. If you are wanting a typical German meal and setting, I strongly recommend this restaurant.

Busy with tourists by day, at night the restaurant is filled with locals (mostly hungry men) drinking smoked beer, and indulging in some of the biggest portions and most delicious food we had in Germany. There are a few tables outside, but inside is small and cozy and feels like a home in the German countryside. Service is good, English... More

We ate inside which was lovely with wood panelling and a very country, German feel. The menu which was available in English, had a good variety of dishes. The food was very tasty too. Definitely recommended.

Ate here 8 MAR 14 for lunch with friends. I had Nürnberger Bratwürst'la mit Sauerkraut and a Rauchbier (Nuremberg Bratwürst with sauerkraut and a smoked beer) - delicious. My friend had Putensteak mit Kräuterbutter, Pommes frites und Salat (Turkey steak with herb butter, French fries and salad). Both were delicious. The staff friendly and helpful. Great location just down from... More

Went to this restaurant after taking a nice "walking tour" of Bamberg. There were 14 of us but I must say the service was excellent. I chose the house grillplatter and a famour Rauchbeer (smoked beer). It tastes like you are drinking a heavily smoked ham and takes some getting used to. Portion sizes are huge. Two of my colleagues... More

When we got to Bamberg we wanted German food. What we found at first given where we were staying, Were pizza places And other ethnic restaurants. Some we went to later and found wonderful but I digress. I tried my fledgling German with a shop keeper and she sent us here. It was early and it was Monday. We got... More
