We stopped here rather than descend into the town, the entrance provides no clue that there is a secluded, intimate bier garten at the rear. The food was a cut above the other establishments closer to the centre of town and the bier had a fresher taste- in short, a rather lovely experience. Go there on a quiet weekday afternoon... More

My wife and I went to Bamberg for the day since we were in Munich for our annual Volksfest in the city of Dachau. Bamberg is a lovely city with lots of freindly people! I selected the Greifenklau based on reviews I had read on Trip Advisor....and was not disappointed. The Greifenklau is in a beer garden. We arrived around... More

Lovely brewery outside the centre but with a great terrace with nice views. Unfortunately it was cold so we retreated indoors but that was no hardship. The restaurant had a really good atmosphere and the food was delicious with a special asparagus, spargel, menu as it was coming into season. Really enjoyable stop in a city with great opportunites to... More

It is really a great place to experience Franconian kitchen specialities. I love their ‘wirsing’ (Savoy cabbage puree). Our waitress gave me the instruction how to make it

We went there during a kind of "mini Oktoberfest" in August. (Yeah, I know it sounds weird). The place has a very "homey" feeling, service was fast and excellent. Beer cold and good. Our Kids went outside to ride the bumper-cars just in front of the door, while we were sitting in the kindergarten enjoying the Friday afternoon. All was... More

Small brewery with large biergarten outside of center. Unfortunately I hadn't have food, because I was there quite early and was more thirsty, than hungry. Service is quick and friendly. Atmosphere was excellent.

Very good food and excellent beer. went with two co-workers and all three had great food. Both the beer and wine was excellent. the price was normal for the area. The service, as most locations in Bamberg, was excellent.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this very welcoming gasthaus. Recommended by our hotel-keeper, this was clearly a local favorite. Entering from a cold evening, we appreciated the warmth of the rooms and simple decor. Regulars, a mix of young adults and older couples, had their own steins on the shelves near the waiters' station. The brauerei's beer was excellent... More

It's a hike up the hill, and a bit hard to spot Greifenklau, but it was near the apartment we stayed at. The beer and food was good. All breweries were great in Bamberg, nothing like the big beer halls of Munich. This is not a place to raise hell with your friends. But everytime I find a new place... More
