Out of the way and out of the ordinary

Tucked away off the main road in a small village a few miles from Canterbury it looks like a tea shop and you could easily miss it, but then you would miss a real treat. First visit after many recommendations. Excellent food which although looked small in quantity really made you feel sufficed. Polite, attentive waiting staff and pleasant surroundings. Not cheap but worth the money.

This is our 'go to' restaurant for special occasions and it never lets us down. The food is superb (duck that melts under your knife and a cheese board to die for) and the staff are so attentive and lovely - your glass never stays empty for long as they just know when to float over and top you up.... My friend and I had a lovely meal in this little bijou restaurant. The food was tasteful, well presented and good value. The service was excellent, staff polite and caring and very attentive. A really good experience all round.

This is a fantastic restaurant - the quality of the food is consistently high and the staff are friendly and efficient. The lunchtime menu is great value - try the cheeseboard!

We have now eaten at this wonderful gem of a restaurant three times and have never been disappointed. Tucked away in a small side street outside Canterbury, it is a small restaurant but has a great ambience and exceptional food. We had read the reviews prior to visiting and since eating there we can see why it was so highly... More

Have eaten here three times food is excellent, the steak melted in your mouth. Excellent service, just a pity it is in the middle of a quiet village street with no outlook.

we visited kathton house for our birthdays. the place has a touch of a french provincial restaurant. comfortable but slightly worn chairs, white table cloths, paintings on the wall, an all female staff who do a wonderful job. i am comparing it to reads in faversham and some of the ubertrendy places you get in london. reads is all male,... I took my mum here for her birthday treat and were not dissapointed. Fortunately, I had booked via email prior to going as when we got there it was nearly full. This was a Saturday lunch time. Warm and welcoming, the busy staff were always polite and helpful and had enough time for a brief chat. The food was excellent... More
